Maybe these stats are above or below your's. It really doesn't matter as long as you portray yourself as someone dedicated to a field. I applied to College of Engineering as a Biomedical Engineering major. I have things to back up interest in that field, and I have proven my expertise in the sciences.

I wish everyone luck in their applications to Tech. I know it is a great school. Its engineering and science programs beat out top universities such as Duke, Princeton, Harvard, and is on the same level as MIT and CalTech. Good luck to everyone and Congrats to all those accepted to the class of 2010!! YEAH!

yea i applied around same time u did polkovnik....but havent heard anything from tech yet.
but a couple of ppl from my school already got their acceptance packages...gosh~

Per admissions ~4000 applied early. As they, GT admissons, look at possible semifinalists for the PS they are mailing admit letters. So if you got an admit letter you were at least considered.

They, admissions, believes that the semifinalists will have ~1500 on the SAT and a near 4.0 HS GPA.

~450 will become semifinalists with 100 finalists with 40 total presidential scholars. Interviews for semifinalists will be in Jan with 2-3 alumns. Finalist interviews will happen in late March. Two of the people I know who are PS's had 1580 and 1560 SAT's respectively.

Tuff sledding to get a PS. Looks like I am a little short myself, however they also indicated they may be starting an honors program for the fall 2006. Lets keep our fingers crossed on that one.

If this helps, last year I believe they did them in waves. My stats were sat 1380 (710 v 670 m) 690 math2c/630chem/630 writing. 96/748 (class rank). Decent EC and such. I am here now and love it. lemme know if you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Yeah, I think Sakrei is right. My friend who goes to GT told me that they are on a tier system or something like that. Basically, they look at the students with the stats and qualities et cetera they want first. After those groups of people are chosen then it's down to the next tier and so on and on so on until they start to get to the point where they start rejecting people.

If that were the case I think we would have heard more people on CC talking about their acceptances.

I'm pretty sure that the majority of the people on CC care more about HYPM and other colleges over Georgia Tech and therefore would not consider it too highly...

Well potential engineering majors should look closely at Ga Tech as a match/safety school. While MIT is my first choice, EA admission is only gonna be around 12% this year so I know I need a backup plan.

i applied before OCt 31. GOt acceptance letter dec 7.

hmmm... so if you didnt get any information about it in your admission's packet, you are no longer in the running for the presidential scholarship?

I reviewed my app and did not see a place for the ap scores. I just had mine sent from collegeboard so they got into my file that way. Suggest that may be the way to go.

Please check your private messages. Only one person on the boards says they have received notification. It does not seem likely that only one person on the board would have received notification.

I suggest you call admissions and ask.

What I know from talking to them is that 400 out of 4000 early apps will get interviews in jan. I would think some of my friends with 1500+ would have been notified in an effort to get an early start but they have not. I have a 1480 3.87uw so I would think I would be close to the top 10% of apps and heard something too.

I don't think I will be one of the 40 selected...only 20 will be men so you do the math.
