GT PSP Waitlist

I was waitlisted for the PSP. With May 1st coming around, I was wondering if anybody has heard anything about the waitlist. Also, my second question is whether I can still accept GT's admission after May 1st if I'm on the waitlist for the PSP.
I was admitted to GT. If I hear that a spot opened up for me on May 16th for example, could I still accept admission if I commit to another school but change?

Other Information:
Aerospace Engineering major
Honors Program: waitlist (not overly concerned with that)
OOS Tuition

Thanks in advance.

Heyy Imma ps scholar. 6 people have been accepted off the waitlist thus far i believe. And yeah just double deposit. I think so far 30 PS have accepted the scholarship. 50-60 generally do. But lots of amazing people got the scholarship this year and are picking MIT, Harvard, etc. over Tech. I’m still iffy on it (thinking about Berkeley) so you might get my spot. good luckkk. if you get off the waitlist let me know!

I think you have to ask Georgia Tech about their policy on this. It is possible if you don’t make a deposit at GT by May 1st that you may be out of consideration for the PSP, but only GT can tell you this. I would not double deposit as that can put your admission at risk at both schools.

No. If you want to attend Tech in the fall, you must pay your deposit by May 1. Any PS wait list offers made after May 1, if any, will obviously only go to those who have chosen to attend Tech anyway.

If they wanted someone off the wait list and could offer them tens of thousands of dollars, don’t you think they could pull strings with the admissions office to get a deposit accepted after May 1? Sounds like a spy movie. ;-)

@GPBurdell32: No, I don’t. 1) If they wanted somebody THAT badly, they would have offered them the scholarship to begin with, 2)The PS program, although it can TRY to pull strings, cannot make guarantees like that, 3) The PS program is currently under review for possible changes, and is not in a position to be “pulling strings,” and 4) There will almost certainly be people who were on the wait-list for PS and decided to attend Tech anyway, so the program will have, if they decide to accept more people, those to choose from.

I stand corrected. People who did not deposit by May 1 have been taken off the wait list in the past.

I would also like to clarify the following comment I made: “If they wanted somebody THAT badly, they would have offered them the scholarship to begin with.” This was written in haste and I did not mean to imply that semifinalists who were wait-listed are not exceedingly exceptional people who are very much worthy of receiving the PS. In fact, being placed on the wait-list for the PS indicates you are an outstanding applicant who is worthy of joining the program. I apologize if this came off incorrectly in my initial post.

I also do not mean to imply that the PS program cannot work with students to help them overcome any obstacles in achieving their goals at Tech. They certainly will do everything possible to help current and future scholars.

Thanks everybody. I’m in contact with Randy McDow about what’s up with the scholarship thing. He told me earlier that 100-ish people were offered scholarships, with 30-some on the waitlist, so I’m on the edge of my seat. I’ll ask him about the double deposit thing. I actually wasn’t sure whether to do that or accept to another school, and change to GT if I do get the scholarship. From what I’ve understood, I can still enroll after May 1st, but I’ll get some clarification on this.

But we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

and InPursuit, no worries.

Good luck. I hope PSP comes through!

But if anyone hears anything about the waitlist, please let me know on here. I’ll give you my kidneys in return.
Thanks
