guaranteed Transfer decision date

Nope...certain gpa, certain amount of classes per semester, and you have to take CERTAIN CLASSES

joise, so sorry to hear about their decision. :( All the best at dickinson though!!

Figgy, that's funny-- they didn't mention specific classes that I had to take. In fact, what I'm doing right now has very little to do with what I'm applying for in Cornell. Psychology--> Hotel. But I wrote to the director and he said it was alright? Argh. I'm still freaking out.

shouldnt it be okay? i mean, as a freshman, ure just taking introductory courses.

Well I'm a GT for ILR so I'm sure it's different than other colleges. I don't have the letter handy right now but there are a few courses I HAVE to take if I want to transfer. I know one is econ...

for an ILR GT: macro and micro economics, 2 writing/english courses, a course in science, a course in something on non-western civilizations, a course on western civilizations...and i believe thats all...im just now finishing up all that and hope to hear back soon shortly.

Good Luck! Did you qualify with gpa and everything? Post when you hear back and hopefully it'll be good news!

i have a 3.23 instead of the 3.3 required..soo im nervous.

i know hotel school is like a writing seminar, accounting, etc. i'm not sure where i'm going freshman year, so i cant send in my letter of intent, which i assume explains in further detail what classes i need to take.

So as someone whos been through what I'm going to go through...how was it roots? What school did you go to and why don't you have a 3.3? Thanks for the insight, it will help a lot!

I'm not too good at math and I decided to take a math course and I did poorly on it... I will be taking some not for credit math courses over the summer (at a CC) to improve my math skills and be ready to take on some calculus courses in my first year at Cornell (if i am admitted). First and foremost make sure you complete your economics courses both macro and micro...Besides the other requirements, ILR loves it when GTs take math-- just dont mess it up like I did, be sure you are prepared for the level of math you will be taking. I would also throw in a political science course. ALWAYS email ILR before registering for each quarter/semester to double check if what you are thinking of taking, works with what they want you to take--basically to see if the credit will transfer. ALSO call in at the end of each quarter/semester to make sure they have received your transcripts.

Is it possible to be a GT if you apply to transfer after freshman year, and then you would come junior year or is it only offered when you apply as a senior?

ILR doesnt have a math requirement (besides a very basic math-based exam, about Sequential III level)...why did you take a math course? I never plan on taking math besides some labor statistics courses...if that even counts as math

the college I am at currently requires math, so I took it...An ILR counselor also told me they like GTs and applicants that have taken math courses...Looking back on my decision I should have waited to take math sophomore year instead of Frosh...Since you are a GT i wouldn't really bother with math unless you enjoy it/are good at it...Statistics would be good.

i just tried to accomplish exactly what they asked

Fall semester i took 4 classes
macro, 1 western phil course (for WIT credit), 1 eastern phil course (for CP credit), and Astronomy (for S&T)

Spring Semester i'm taking 5:
micro, 3 cinema classes (for kicks), english

plus my AP's got me a bunch of stuff...its different for everyone

i didnt realize you a GT now.. for '06

CAS just told me to take "general liberal arts courses"

Just about stats...they said that you have to take a stats course at Cornell so...

Thank you so much for your story and help, its very much appreciated!

ilr students need to take a stats class ... but they want you to take their stats class so they'll probably be rather stingy about transfer credits.

for transferring into bio and society in cals, i had to take a full year writing seminar, a full year of intro bio, an ethics class, a calc class, and a stats class. i had to take 16 the first semester and 19 this semester

Has anyone else from CALS heard yet?? Have they been rejecting anymore GTs??
