Guaranteed Transfers!! HELLO!!

K, I'm jay. Just got notified of my guaranteed transfer status from the website. It's not a complete acceptance, but it does guarantee our spot in Cornell under certain condition, which in most cases are not difficult to obtain :)

It'll be safe to say I consider myself Cornell 09' now.. hehe

Please (if you don't mind) put your AIM/YAhoo/or whatever you have
so that we can keep in touch and see how things are going. Ah, also the state what school you will be attending.. and stuff

congrats and be proud of what we have achieved!! YAY, we'll be at cornell!! I can't believe it!!

Hi Jay. This is a really good offer. I'll definitely be taking them up on it.

Congrats everyone on your "acceptances'!

lol personally I'd perfer that over accpetance... hanging out at another school for couple years could save a ton of money .

Somewhere warmer than Ithaca perferably!

What are the conditions for guaranteed transfer?

For me.. ILR (I found it on the website.. actually :P)

3.3 GPA Nothing less than B
Some freshmen courses to complete.. Freshmen English.. Macro/Micro Economics course.. blah..

Their guidelines are more strict than others.. ILR works its students really hard, I am fully aware. But even if I wasn't accepted to Cornell, why would I go to college thinking I won't even get GPA of 3.3 since I'm thinking of going to top-notch law school.. o_0

All good, baby :) Cornell 09' for me!

Yeah I was quite devastated when I first saw I didn't get in. I didn't really read through the letter thoroughly, but when I went back and saw that it said I was gonna get the guaranteed transfer, that upped my spirits a bit.

FishS, seem like we might have the same thing goin' on. Going to a Florida school if you're a resident is basically free. Got the Bright Futures and FAFSA going on, so it should be pretty cheap. UF is a good school too.

I got it from CALS too....is it a 1 YEAR guaranteed transfer or a 2 year one? Cause a 2 year one sucks.

Yeah, I haven't gotten the official rejection & GT in the mail, so I don't know if it's gonna be 1 or 2 years. I really do hope it is 1 year also.

Hey guys i got an offer for GT too, i was just wondering within CALS if we are bound to the major we applied to? and any info about the program would be welcome.

you can transfer once you're in, because once you're in, you're in...

I wonder what happens to those that don't get in on the wait list? Can they get a GT?

To my understanding, there are accepted ppl, ppl with guaranteed transfer (very few), waitling list ppl, and rejected.

GT is better than waiting list. We WILL BE Cornell 09' as long as we meet the requirements which is definitely not hard to obtain. We don't re-apply or pay the application fee. We ARE IN after a yr. We'll have advisers from Cornell school during our freshman yr in other school, helping us in our selection of classes and meeting graduation requirements @ cornell.

Cornell wants us period :) Or Maybe I'm being too ecstatic about it lol

Yay! GT people unite!

I had that same reaction. I thought I was rejected so I started to cry, then i saw that and cried some more because that's what my mom told me was going to happen.

I'm happy now though, I'll probably stay at home and go to Stonybrook University because it will only be like $2000 which is good, and i can stay at work and hang out with some of my friends that are going to a community college and my friends in 11th grade (i'm only 16.) I really want to go to Maryland though....

so we'll see, safe to say Cornell '09? Oh yeah

hey guys - also got a guaranteed transfer to humec. pam major... had applied ED, but i guess they dont want me now but think i'll be a changed person in a year!!?? That makes no sense to me, but whatever. I think I might take it... depending on how much i like where I end up going.

My other choices that i got into as of now are UC Berkeley, Northwestern, NYU, Maryland business school, Colgate, BU business, and GW business.

People are telling me that if i end up going to berkeley or northwestern that i probably wont bother to transfer to cornell. My only hangup with nw is that its arts and sciences, and that they dont have a true undergrad business major - but i like the idea of chicago. Still like cornell because of its undergrad programs... any advice on what i should do?

Thanks.

if i were you i'd just choose northwestern and be done with it. it's a great school.

Or Berkeley.

that what my mom thinks, she thinks if i go to maryland then i will love it and not want to leave, and if i do transfer, its alot of money for one year compared to the $2000 at stonybrook or binghampton

I GOT GT!!!!!!!
I looked online on thursday and i didnt even read the whole letter...i just read the part that said i didnt get in and was just like "oh well"...but today i saw a big envelope in the mail from ILR and was so confused....then it says i got GT and was like wow!

Im definitely gonna take em up on this offer....so we re-apply for financial aid using the css profile and fafsa after jan 1st 2006?? or do we get financial aid packet now (probably not, right?)?
hopefully the financial aid for 2006 will make it able for me to attend...

hey .... I was accepted to Engineering, even though I changed my mind about applying and didn't submit all the forms. Without financial aid I wouldn't even consider Cornell, so the packet was pretty much a joke.

Could I try for GT or something?
