Hey monkeyboy, while you're waiting, go to UR because everyone there's very smart and I'm in love with all of them.

Sorry, just my two cents, good luck going wherever you go, guys!

vanillaice3000>>HEY!! I'm ILR GT TOO!!!

I got into George Mason U, Mary Washington U, James Madison U, GW with leadership program invite, and BU with ton of grant.

JMU/GW/BU.. i don't know what to do or where to go for my first yr.
All great school. I can get full ride from JMU too.. 36000 grant from BU, GWU is like 30 min away from my school and great great programs lol

DAmn.. my heart is set for ILR, and I will be cornell 09' for sure

just don't know where to spend my first yr at..

What to do.. what to do..

I got a GT to CALS (meteo major) as well.. however, I dont understand when I need to make the decision if i want to go or not. Can I see if I am happy in my new college and then decide if I want to transfer to Cornell.. or do I have to make a binding agreement with Cornell now? I didnt get my letter in the mail yet, which probably explains all of this.. but I am not patient :)

It's non-binding (letter says it all). Cornell will be sending some stuff to you during your first yr, like mid-yr report and all. You will also have to keep in touch with your advisor @ cornell to discuss class selections and meeting graduation requirements. That's why they want to know.

Did you guys know GTs can log into Class of 2009 site? Well, we can :)

lilianphoebs-
they make that decision to make you GT, if you were accepted but go someplace else, you will have to apply again, like us, as a transfer student, but with us GT people its like a non-binding contract kind of thing. we're, hypothetically, put on a list that says if we apply as a transfer student and have above a 3.2 or whatever, then we will have guaranteed admission as a transfer student

yeah, from my experience that is true

can we go to Cornell Days? because here's the thing, if i find out that i really do want to go to Cornell then I will go to my state school for a year or what not, but if i don't, then i want to go to my second choice school. so do you think we(GT's) can?

hm.. I was wondering the same thing. if we can, that'll be great. cuz my parents are now asking me if I really do want to go to cornell and give up spending 4 straight yrs in my second choice school. I woulnd't know until I see cornell for myself lol

CMB720>I'm having a same dilemma. I could go to state school and save a lot of money and get good grades easily, but what if something happens and I don't want to/can't go to cornell? BUt if I go to my second choice school.. getting Bs will be a lot tougher, and i'm not sure if i want to spend that much amount of money before going to cornell.

HM.. what to do..and I wish we could go to cornell days :P

yeah exactly, so i think i'm going ot call UGA tomorrow and ask, i mean if we get access to the Admitted Students website and the class of 09 website, then why cant we? i dont want to give up going to my second choice school, which i also love, right off the bat, so we'll see.

i was looking at cornelldays.cornell.edu and there's so many things i want to do! i want to see an athletic event if there are any going on, and just basically walk around and see everything like the darkroom facilities, the herbert johnson museum of art, the CALS quad, and the transfer dorms! especially them cuz that's where we're going to be. Hey jay, alex, james, and eddy, we're all going to be in the same dorm!, oo and i want to eat alot haha.

Man.. i want to go to Cornell days!! Darn..

Caitlin and the others>>gotta keep in touch. It'll be cool to have someone we know when we get there :) I love how cornell has transfer dorms. We won't have any trouble meeting people.

Lalala.. maybe I'm being too ecstatic about this, but again, we have every right to be. HAHAHA

Jay

CMB :D getting ahead of yourself a bit? It does sound really fun though, I can't wait either.

I somehow felt obligated to bump this thread

bumpity bump :D

i don't know if the transfer center will still be there a couple of years from now...you should check out the construction development to see when it is being destroyed.

Got my official letter in the mail today. For my major, Communication, it offered me a GT after two years. I was really hoping for only a one year transfer....

Yeah I got it too. It says you can't get the guarantee with AEM, Noka.

You dont know how happy I am! I mean I thought I was already rejected-then i got this letter. thank God. lol.

Congrats everyone on your "acceptances' and best of luck with your freshman year!!!

Yeah Fishy I saw that. Kinda weird, you can transfer to another major if you put it in writing, except for AEM.

Does anyone know if Guaranteed transfer is generally looked upon as being better than waitlisted? Can any of the GO's post stats?

thanks

My understanding is that GTs can attend Cornell Days.
