So guess my decision and I'll report back feb 1 with the results:

Out of State - VA
3.0 GPA
600 CR, 600 M, 610 W
28 ACT (Composite)
Private Catholic School - School doesn't rank
Excellent EC's (Hockey (Captain for 2 teams), eBay business, Percussion, loads of Volunteer hours, Work Experience etc)
Good Rec's

I hear they like out-of-staters so I'm hoping this will help my chances.

I'd say you have a 50% shot. Your test scores are within the middle 50% of the current first-year class, but your GPA is way low. The average GPA is about 3.7 If your GPA reflects taking mostly honors classes, than you should be OK. Miami students are known for volunteerism, and the admissions team will look for it. Are you interested in joining the marching band? (Our band is great!) If so, this could help your chances, and the admissions team needs to know this. Miami keeps close track of each applicant's communications with the University. If you repeatedly contact the admissions department with intelligent, specific questions about programs and activities, this will help your chances; as the admissions department favors applicants who have proven that Miami is one of their top choices. Note that Miami is a public university, so the state of Ohio does cap the percentage of out of state students at 37%. That said, it looks like Miami will accept 69-70% of out-of-state applicants this year. I don't know of alot of Miami students coming from VA, so that may help; as the University wants students from all 50 states. Note that Miami is a great hockey school - we have a good team and a beautiful, brand-new ice arena. Hockey is the most popular sport on campus. Good luck!

Yea thats the thing, I have decent test scores but my GPA suffers. I was there just the past weekend and I saw them play Ohio State at the Goggin; the game was sick! My friend from the same school got in with a 3.2 GPA 29 ACT. I hope I get in as its my number 1!!!!
