Guesses On RD Acceptance Rates?

If the new economy does not impact the ivies, and many think it won't, Dartmouth is closing in on a single digit rate of admission.

11.5 overall this year? Papa Chicken, are you out there?

Yeah. 11.5% overall, and 10% regular decision. Assuming that Dartmouth accepts the same amount regular decision, they would need about a 35% increase in RD apps from last year (15k to 20k) in order to have an overall sub-10% acceptance rate. It will be interesting to see how the new financial aid plan effects yield. It is always possible that they will not need to accept as many this year.

Also, if the number of prospective students visiting campus for a tour is any indication of an increase in apps, the D had an article in the spring that stated that campus visits had doubled so far this year.

Simply the fact that most schools (with binding programs) have decreased in applications while Dartmouth continues to increase is a good or a bad sign (depending on your perspective).
