@FenderBender… good luck for Webb. I applied for reassignment in april for Webb and I got Cardinal Gardens which I didn’t mind anyways cause it was my second choice. Webb filled up in like the first 3 hours of the housing lottery.

I got my reassignment for Troy East. Super stoked!

hey im new to this thread and I just figured out I got in as a transfer next fall. is there still guaranteed housing left or do I have to find it myself? thanks

Transfers aren’t guaranteed housing, but you should just fill out the housing application and see what you get. You’ll probably get assigned something. I talked to housing the other day asking whether they know if they’ll have enough spots for transfers, and the lady said she didn’t know.

hi all, i’m going to be a sophomore transfer. i’d like to live in a dorm building on campus that is relatively quiet at night. which ones are good?

@boss529, As far as I know, on-campus dorms are only for Freshmen and Sophomores can live in University-Owned Housing.

I am a transfer Sophomore as well and I just spoke to housing today and they told me that there is still spaces open and that I’m more than likely going to be able to live in university housing, but not my first choices (Webb, which filled up in a few hours, and Troy, which is full/almost full as well). I applied for housing on June 20th.

You can live in dorms as a soph through senior too, it’s just that there aren’t many spots and not many people do it.

If you’re looking for an on-campus place that is really quiet, Parkside IRC would be it. You would probably have an easier time getting a spot there than any other dorm on campus. And yeah, anyone year can live in the dorms, it just isn’t that usual, especially for Juniors and Seniors.

just got reassigned to NEW! super amped, since that was where i wanted to live.

Hi,

Are single rooms available in all dorms, or just some of them (and which ones)? Also, what are the chances of a sophomore getting a single room if they request one?

Thanks.

can you request a roommate?

Singles are available in some rooms, check the Housing website for details. Chances? Not good.

Yes, you can request a roommate. See the Housing website for instructions.

Hi,

Does anyone have information about living in La Sorbonne? How are the rooms, and the overall atmosphere? Is it hard to get a place there?

Thanks.

Info for minnie and dumbo (cute!)

Thanks Alamemom. Gotta love the fact USC is not too far from Disneyland. I sure wouldn’t mind visiting my daughter there. Wonderful thread.

And me!!! I LOVE THIS. I birnkrant.

Another great dorm thread (Nikara’s was started before Parkside, the newest dorm, even existed) is here:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/883032-dorms-meal-plans.html?highlight=dorms

She did it in bits starting with the traditional dorms in post #1 - she covers Parkside in post #12. (Lamedaughter lived in Parkside IRC 2008-2009 - it is beautiful!) The more threads the better!

Hi alamemom!

USC encourages that admits make a $45 deposit for housing ASAP but when would be the most appropriate time to do so? I guess it would be possible to do it tomorrow but I wouldn’t really be able to pick (since I haven’t visited any of the dorms yet). Traditionally, do students (or at least those who received the early letters) tend to wait until the ExploreUSC session to make that decision or would it be advisable to do this earlier? Thank you in advance for your help as your comments have always been very helpful. :)

:) The earlier you get the deposit in, the more chance you have of getting the housing you want. If you are seriously considering USC, I recommend getting the deposit in before Explore or immediately after - you can always change your preferences without loosing your spot in “line.” You do not have to commit to attend USC - you can just submit the $45 housing deposit.
