Guide to Housing at USC

To be honest, you’ve probably missed out already. As far as I know, class rank has nothing to do with housing preferences, it’s first come first served.

I believe Pardee doesn’t fill as early as some of the other options so you may still have a good chance of getting it. S didn’t submit his until later in April & still got Pardee & was very happy there.

You didn’t miss out. There are plenty of great dorms.

After class standing, the single most important factor in determining if and where you will be assigned is the date we receive your application.

from the usc housing website… i still think i kinda missed out. ****

should i jsut wait until i commit… still deciding.

Just register an application. It’s 45 bucks. You can change your choices over the next few days, but your date will be in. Nothing to loose but 45 bucks even if you don’t enroll. Many students are still waiting. At least get in front of them!

class standing means fresh, soph, jr, sr… not top 10% or whatever lol. you don’t even have a USC gpa.

ugh misunderstood that haha… just put in an application. trying to find a roomate…

I’m a Presidential Scholar, and I just applied for housing last night, but I haven’t SIR’d yet. What are the chances I’ll get my first choice?

What does single 7P mean in Parkside? It says Single-7P-ST. 4225/- per sem.

A single in a 7 person suite maybe? Three rooms with two people each and the single. Don’t quote me, but I know they have singles in suites in Parkside, because my son considered that.

^ Exactly right. 7P = a seven person suite with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths.

I’m leaning towards Birnkrant but read a comment that mentioned that since there are many floors and less rooms per floors, people stick to the other people in their floors and don’t meet the other people in the other floors as much. I get that this is normal, but since the building is so divided into many floors, I was wondering if this limited the people you interact with daily… as opposed to say New/North which only have 4 floors (I think?) so there are more rooms per floor…

Alamemom, then who decides to go single? Coz all 7 would pay the same amount, right?

No, you pay more for a single. So whoever paid the higher rate would get the single.

Okay, sounds fair.

Son has chosen Pardee as one of his 5 selections and I hear from moms here that the outdoor floor is great. Since my son would want to enjoy the outings I thought this is a neat option, can someone please tell me if the supplemental form for this has to be filled out?

Is it on the same web page? Thanks.

hey, quick question.

I’m a transfer student applying as a sophomore. I’ll be 21 later on this year; should I go into the dorms or should I go into an apartment?

an apartment so you can drink in (relative) peace.

corvin, i am in the exact same situation as you!

I’ve done some research and have looked at the apartments in school (Parkside apartments)

However, i drive a car and parking in USC can get really crazy and expensive. Sighhh

Please tell me after u’ve decided

I would say an apartment, but mainly because the students who live in the dorms are primarily freshmen. If you choose to live in a dorm, I’d recommend the Parksides (Arts and Humanities over IIRC though) since they tend to have more upperclassmen than freshmen.

@alkaboy:

are their parking lots for students who live at parksides?

Also, i dont really want to share a room with someone. Would you recommend the singles at parkside?
