Gurlz Heading For Annapolis

Pleeze post here.

Just so you know, you most likely are going to get chewed out here for several things. Saying "gurlz" and "pleeze" as well as asking nothing more than to say "post here"

Post here what? Post here if you are interested? Post here if you got accepted? Post here if you already have gone?

I dont mean to be the one to chew you out, but some maturity is needed here, not only in your post but what you are asking in general.

Perhaps you could also read up on additional posts here, see what others have to say on this topic (it has been covered).

I hope you eventually have your question answered but some effort can be made on your end. Sorry if this comes accross as harsh.

Who are you the message police?

Out of 1500 in each class there are 20% or less females.
That means if you want to meet, greet, or possibly date one you better not call her a gurl and you better get on your knees and beg her please.
As a former woman that was in the fleet (back then 15 to 1) we laughed at the men who thought of us as objects, because oops turn the corner, there's a better man over there!

Congrats & welcome aboard, Spoton! Obviously, you hit a sensitive spot here! Let's try this one again.
With the odds at the academy the way they are, you women need to stick together, as WIN suggested.

As a gurl I can call myself a gurl...maybe I don't belong on here...

I've got to jump in here. Snippers not the message police, he's just trying to help you. Listen to him, and others like him, and you'll do fine.

You also might rethink your answer to him. You will take a real beating at the Academy with an attitude like that.

Having said that, congrats on your appointment. It looks like WIN84 thought you were a boy, trolling for girls. I checked your earlier posts and you're a girl, right?

My daughter is trying very hard for the class of 2011, so I know how much you had to put in to the process.

Good Luck

Yes I'm a girl...ok everybody...this is a hostile group I'm thinking. I've had to work hard to get to the academy and I thought I would get on here for a while but it looks like it's mainly a bunch of parents bragging about there kids activities and SAT scores.

Wow, everyone is posting at once. Spoton, don't go away. This is a great forum for learning. I reread Snipper's comments and I don't think he flamed you very hard. It can be a lot worse. And you can call yourself a gurl, but you might not be taken as seriously.

I can't reiterate enough that if you only give us all a chance you'll learn lots.

Ok maybe i'll just be a lurker for a while and shut up. Thanks for advice.

spotup4three- don't worry, i felt the same that you did about this forum in the beginning---I think you did get an overly harsh response, when you were just asking a question. plus, its not ANYONE's job on here to flame. I'm positive she's aware that there's plenty of that awaiting her during her plebe year, guys.

congrats on heading here! i'll be one of your youngsters, (92 days to Herndon!), so keep your chin up, your spirits high, and remember that who you are is good enough for the naval academy, so its sure as heck good enough for everyone else. you go gurl!

Spot on.
I thought you were a male.
I think though since I joined at 18 and you will be at USNA at 18? then I can assume you are a "Lady" that is what they called us in the old days.
Nothing like waking up to the sound of a garbage (metal) can rolling down the floor at 4am and someone yelling "Okay ladies..on the line!" to remind you that you are not a girl anymore!
I 'm so glad you made it, and don't leave these people can tell you the real stuff you will need to know.

Thanks wheelah I was gonna start to cry pretty soon if somebody didn't back me up! ha ha just kiddin...I would be honored to serve under you some day.

WIN84 thanks too for the bak-up...for those who dont' know gurl is not a put-down its how we talk some times.

SpotUp4Three ~ CONGRATS! Don't go away... Stay and chat. There are alot of kids on here. They just gotta get home from school or something. They usually get on more at night. Yep, there's a bunch of parents here too. We like to talk about what underwear to pack you guys before you go. Chill squid! Enjoy what time you have left at home. It'll be the good stuff you do now that you can remember during the tough times. Basketball huh? This is a good thing. Ya'll know what I'm gonna say.... GO NAVY!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Jamzmom do you have somebody at Annapolis?

Hee Hee Hee. Nope. My son is at USMMA but he's Navy so I will always be Go Navy. I have a soft spot in my heart for academy kids/ROTC kids no matter where they go. You guys are a special breed and someday you'll be doing big great things.

Ok i see now i didnt look at your profile thingie...i have a friend that goes there i think...NYC right?

Jamzmom what's the underwere thing? If i should ask?

USMMA is at Kings Point, Long Island NY. Close enough to NYC that the Mids go there alot for kicks. And the underwear thing? Well, you haven't gotten to that point yet but you will. When you get your list of things to bring, you will probably have to get back on here to ask what type. Although at USNA most of the parents and some of the mids will tell you not to bring anything. Its all very confusing, you'll soon see. We had a conversation on here last year that turned into one big joke that lasted 1/2 the year. It truly was funny. Hang tough & keep working out. Run Spot Run!!
