Guys And Gals Give Me Some Insight

Alright, so I'm an oos junior who's worried about his chances for UCLA. I've seen threads on here saying it's as a difficult to get into as an ivy for oos applicants, so I'm wondering what you guys think.

UC GPA- 4.27 (20 A's, 2 A's, and I guess I add 8 points for 3 ap classes junior year and 3 going to be taken senior year. That's like 12 semesters, so I'm guessing that I give myself the full 8).
GPA Unweighted- 3.85 as of now on a A= 4 B=3... scale. It would go up to a 3.87-3.89 by the time I applied if I maintained my grades.

SAT (Score on my 3rd test, Single Sitting)
Overall- 2250
Composite- 1560
CR- 790
M- 770
CW- 690

Award: National Merit Commended

Rank
9/118- top 8%

The school I go too is a part of the New Tech foundation. They emphasize a new type of approach where students are familiarized with an authentic work environment. Our work centers heavily around presentations, professionalism, becoming acquainted with the uses of technology in today's world, and of course normal high school content. I took one ap class freshmen year and the rest honors. I took all honors classes sophmore year and now 3 aps and the rest honors junior year. Depending on how many APs are provided during my senior year, I will have atleast 4 AP classes done by the time I graduate. While I may not have as many APs as others, I will have taken the most rigorous curriculum possible. When I graduate, I will also have 40+ hours of experience shadowing people in their jobs. This program was implemented to give us a visual view of the real world and is very similiar to interning except I could be watching what a CEO does in their job etc.

The New Tech School was opened in my district when I was going to be a sophmore, so I will be a part of its first graduating class. I wasn't involved in any major clubs over at the other high school during my freshman year, and when I went to New Tech. there weren't many clubs. I've gotten involved in ec's mostly in junior year, because the opportunities have presented themselves. That and I found cc.

no chance…

lol really?

You’re a contender. No one on this board can tell you with certainty whether you’ll be accepted since none of them are adcoms for UCLA and even they might not know at this time but you’re certainly in the ballpark so you may as well just keep up the good work you’re alrwady doing, submit your app when ready, and quit worrying about it.

Alright then.

wouldn’t say so - especially dire times, they love OOS cash cows

^^^ Ah, so oos students have better shots than before. Alright. But as an applicant, do I stack up to be just average for a ucla oos student or am I in the high/lower end of the pool?

you only get to add 6 points not 8 points to your gpa because the uc weighted gpa only counts your sophomore/junior year grades. your senior year grades don’t matter.

Um, the uc site said count the honors and seniors classes taken in grades 10, 11, and 12, not the grades for them but the amount taken. I counted the grades i got in years 10 and 11.

bumping!!!
