GW Financial Aid

I was accepted to GW and its one of my top choices, I was wondering if anyone had any insights into GW's need based aid program? do they meet the EFC? or come close to it?

Yeah nailo19 I’m in the same boat you are. Has anyone recieved their acceptance packets yet? I found out online and I’m still waiting for the actual packet, because it has all of the financial aid info inside.

I live in New Jersey and I got my admission packet yesterday but I found out my financial aid information online. You should get an email about viewing your financial aid

I just got my packet in the mail but there was no financial aid or scholarship letter inside… : (

it is also not online for me. anyone know what i should do…

WOW NEVER MIND i got the presidential scholarship

parkerparker: if it wasn’t in your letter or an e-mail how do you know you got it? congrats!

PARKERPARKER: HOW DID YOU FIND OUT??!! I got my packet and there wasn’t anything on financials inside. I applied for financial aid and I’m going to need it. Was your scholarship in the packet/what were your stats?

It was in the letter on the far left side of the packet the first letter i had to read it very thoroughly to find it i missed it at first!
there was a sentence that said to further enhance your acceptance you have been offered …

there was no financial aid info though

ahh bummer, i didn’t get it, kind of funny that they had 2 acceptance letters though…and both say pretty much the same thing. Well congrats on yours! When does the financial aid info come? Ahh I just want to figure out where I can afford to go and be done with this process!

I got an email to view my GW financial aid award with the following information. It listed both the need-based and merit-based award.

To view your awards please visit [MyGW - The George Washington University Web Portal](http://my.gwu.edu), click on “gweb info system” and follow the directions.
Since this is your personal award, you will need to log-in by using your USERID (GWid) and PIN (date of birth).

Did you get that email or try accessing your award online?

I got this same email. But in my mail package, there was nothing in there about financial aid except that I got the Presidential Scholarship. Do we have to wait for a separate financial aid package as well? (Online I got $45,000 in grants and scholarships so…)

I have the same question, I got $30,000 in a board of trustees scholarship but I definitely qualify for financial aid too so I’m hoping that I get some notice soon. I sent in FAFSA and CSS, though I haven’t sent in my parents’ tax forms yet–I thought that they’d just make an estimated financial aid award before they got your forms. :/

For posters: To view your FA package, first go to my.gwu.edu, and click on gw web info system on the left hand side of the screen. You should now see a login screen. Your login ID that begins the letter “G” was provided in your acceptance letter. The passwrd is your birth date. The format of the passwrd is (MMDDYY). The y’s are the last 2 digits of the year you were born.

Hope this helps. :)

Didn’t seem to work for us, Izzy.

BefuddledParent: Did your s/d receive their login ID in their acceptance letter? It is also the same ID used to activate, not login into, their GW admissions center account.
If you are having trouble with the date of birth:
e.g. March 3, 1991
Password would be 030391

@IZZY4COLLEGE, thanks! I was able to log in and see my financial aid :)

I still can’t see my FA…

I had a lot of trouble logging in too. When you go to the website posted on the previous page, do not click log in. Instead, on the side, there is a button called “gw web user info.” It will take you to a page for first time users (enter user name as your GW id and password as date of birth in mm/dd/yy). After entering this, it will direct you to change your password and set a security question. Then you can view your financial aid.
