I was just wondering if anyone has received a hard copy of their acceptance letter, and if so, did it come with a financial aid package?
If not, does anyone know when I can expect to hear about financial aid?
Thanks!

Received my financial aid package via email last night; hoping for hard copy today.

I just received my acceptance package in the mail! Sadly, it does not contain the financial aid package, just some general info about aid =/

Adieu, I received my admissions packet as well and it didn’t contain my FA info either. Did you get an email regarding financial aid yesterday? If so, follow the links and it will take you to your FA awards. Good luck!

I didn’t get a FA email :(

I didn’t get the email either. I’m sure they’re being flooded with calls and emails, so should I call them to ask or just wait it out?

Maybe they are sending out the emails in waves? I would just call the FA office, even though they are probably busy, it’s just a simple question.

i found mine online here

/\ /\ /\ when did we get pin numbers? Do we have to officially enroll to get them?

I didn’t get an email either, but I followed the link that lainasaywhat provided (thank you for that!). Your GWid is in your acceptance package, and the pin is just your date of birth (MMDDYY). Hope this helped =)

Ugh I havnt gotten my acceptance folder yet waaah

Does GW guarantee to meet full need?
What I’m not understanding is that I got a 15,000 dollar scholarship, (so clearly they want me) yet that have left me a 30,000 dollar gap. Where am I supposed to get this money?

eggblue: What was your EFC? I know when I received my aid package last year, the gap was almost the exact amount of the EFC, but GW was willing to work with me a bit when I further clarified my financial situation and they gave me an extra $4k scholarship.

I just got my package. I’ll be honest, it’s not terrible for most people’s standards, but absolutely dreadful for mine. My EFC is extremely low and all of our remaining money is being spent on cancer treatment for my mom, which the office of financial aid is aware of. I’m really not sure why my award was so small. Think calling them will be helpful? I’m thinking that appealing is my only option.

Sam, that bites. I plan on calling tomorrow, and I definitely think it will help your situation.
My EFC was around 8500. With the scholarship I received and 5,500 in student loans, I’m still left with 38,000 to pay. My parents can pay the EFC, but they most definitely cannot pay the EFC and an extra 30,000.

Exactly my situation. Especially with the massive amount of medical bills.

Hopefully calling will help us both out :)

Money is such a buzz kill. So excited to have been offered admission, but the dollar amount and lack of assistance comes back to bite us in the butt and could ultimately make us be unable to attend. >.<

Good luck.

samsam9393 and eggblue: Definitely get in touch with the financial aid office! Fill out the Special Condition form if necessary (I did that because my father had lost his job), make sure you have all the financial/tax information they could possibly need, send letters, call, email, whatever you can do. Try to contact anyone who sounds like they could help, and then work closely with the ones who seem the most helpful. I can guarantee that it will be a really frustrating process, but your work may pay off. At the same time, be vigilant about outside scholarships that you can get, local or national.
I was also very close to not being able to attend GW, which was my dream school. I really hope that things work out for you guys because I completely understand your situation, and will likely be in it again when I receive my financial aid award for sophomore year.

Just a thought, because this has happened to me at other schools: you also sent in your CSS profile so there could be something in there which makes them think that you would be able to pay more. For example, for most of my other schools I’ve been getting no aid because of the Non-custodial parent profile which shows my dad’s pay, even though my EFC is really low. So maybe there is something in there which makes them think that you would be able to pay? Just a thought, but you should still call and ask to make sure.
