whoahhh... so even though they are making decisions they are waiting to send them out?? when did you send in an app crag?

Hey holdfast--- I applied about 3 weeks before the deadline.

I just called them today and they told me that my application was still "Under review" and that I probably won't hear anything until early May...

What gives, I submitted Part 1 of the app. on January 9 and then sent part 2 on Feb. 15! not to mention they've been telling me that my "application is complete and ready for review" for just about a month now, if not more. Yet everyone here is saying something different. Should I be worried?

Welcome to dealing with the wonderful, caring GW administration

Quite frankly, I just want to go to the school because of the name, education and location - I can care less about the administration, but from what I've experianced thus far, they're not very good at giving people straight answers. I had a better experiance dealing with AU's admins!

You have to understand who you are talking to when you call. Often it is a GW undergraduate student, not an actual staff member. Some of them are fairly new, having just started at the beginning of this semester and never having been through an admission cycle. You should ask to speak to the staff member on duty if you want accurate info and for future reference in any business phone call....you should always ask for the name and position of anyone you talk to.

I'm well aware of the fact that it's typically an undergraduate student, and as I said, I never once believe they gave me wrong information. What's confusing me is how you guys are getting different information, and quite frankly, I don't want to be rude on the phone and ask for someone else - I'm sure anyone "above" the undergraduate students are going to give me the same answer (why would they tell me otherwise unless it was an honest mistake)...

it is very difficult to actually speak to the "staff members on duty" here. i am a student on campus and even have trouble doing so when I walk into a GW office...

Exactly. I never expected to talk to the director of admissions, and I'm certainly not going to make a big fuss on the phone over it. I've worked in customer service (i know, BIG difference) but still, people used to call all the time and ask for the CEO. These are the same people who might as well call Microsoft and ask to speak with Bill Gates because they didn't get the deal they wanted from Best Buy - seriously clueless.

anyone heard anything yet?

Not yet - though today I got a package from AU with an $8,000 Dean's Scholarship!

Still waiting on my first choice, GWU...

i got my acceptance today for arts and sciences...haha its a pretty large package...not easily mistaken for a rejection. im a little disappointed that GW doesnt really offer merit aid for transfers since its so expensive :/

congrats to both of you!! : )

CONGRATS! That's weird, sent late march yet you got it before anyone else... Maybe it depends on the school you apply to?... IDK, I'm seriously stressing over this, and I shouldn't, it's not like rejection is the end of the world; It's just that I spoke to another GWU transfer who said she got hers earlier than anyone else and I'm starting to assume that people who get them earlier than the May 1 date are the ones who got in... I'm just being paranoid.

Hey, I can't believe you found out already! Congratulations! I'm starting to become really confused because I called them Monday, and they told me they weren't sending decision letters out until early May. Now I'm getting reaaaaaaaaaaally worried! MMoralN10Tion, I'm really stressing about this too! Well anyway, I applied to the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences as a Junior, hopefully we will all find out soon! Good luck everyone!

thanks guys! i doubt theres any reason to be concerned....the admissions officer i talked to on the phone said that they were making decisions daily and sending them out in waves. He seemed to indicate that they were nowhere near finished accepting people. good luck everyone and let us know when you hear :)

don't worry guys! that was only the first wave of admissions, there are probably many more to come, and hopefully we will all get a huge envelope in the mail sometime soon! good luck and make sure to update and let us know if anybody gets admitted within the next couple of weeks! :)

Indeed. They told me today that they aren't all mailed out in order, and thankfully, that's the answer I've been looking for cause it makes a lot more sense than the "Everything on May 1" quote.

hey guys--just talked to the admissions office. she said she "thinks they are sending out decisions in two weeks". so... basically pretty soon!

when i think about the george washington university, i vomit a little in my mouth.
