Recently ive been hearing that george washington is just a place for georgetown rejects. is this true ? i want opinions !

It’s less selective, but I wouldn’t discount the school - it’s improving rather quickly. I think that within a decade or so it will be seen as a peer of Georgetown.

Good school, but will never be a peer of Georgetown. GW undergrad is good (always has been) for the B student, while Georgetown is just a step below the Ivies. That will not change.

As for “rejects”, both my brothers went to GW with no interest in Georgetown at the time. They are quite different schools. FWIW, they and their friends have had very successful careers and lives following GW.

thanks ;
another question: does going to Georgetown Prep give you auto-acceptance (provided you have the grades) into GU ?

I agree that admission to Georgetown is more competitive than admission to GW, but if by “B student” you mean 3.0-ish, I think GW may be more competitive than you’re making it out to be. GW didn’t report GPAs for enrolled students in its 2009 Common Data Set, but it did report that 67% of enrolled students (whose schools reported rank, obviously) were in the top 10% of their high school class, and 93% were in the top quarter.

No.

^ and if they published the GPAs, you would probably find most admitted students between 3.0 and 3.5—B students. I don’t mean to make GW sound uncompetitive. It’s a good school. But, it’s a clear step below Georgetown.

At this point, we’re quibbling over trifles, but I think GW is a pretty tough nut to crack with a grade point average of 3.0. Maybe more like 3.5-3.75, unweighted?
