GWU vs. UM (Which is better for Pre-Med?)

So I’ve been accepted into both George Washington University and University of Michigan (my top two choices) and I’m really stuck and was wondering if anyone would have some sort of insight/advice?

First off I was wondering which would be better for pre-med? I would think U of M? Does anyone know med school acceptance rates for pre med students at each school?

I live about 2.5 hours away from U of M (out of state tho) and 12 hours from GWU. I also have lots of extended family near U of M. This is a big plus for me. I’ve visited Ann Arbor, and I love it there. U of M is a great school and has a great reputation. I could really see myself going there. The cost is more expensive, but my parents told me to not worry about finances or base my decision off of that. (They are also thinking about moving to Michigan in the near future, and we would be able to apply for in state tuition.) If I lived in Michigan now, there would be almost no question that I would go there.

The only thing really drawing me to GWU is the fact that it’s in Washington DC. I love Washington DC and just find the city so fascinating. It would offer a really amazing and unique college experience. In addition, I got a 25k/year scholarship to go there. However, I worry that I am basing all my love for GWU on the fact that it’s located in DC, which isn’t a good thing to be making the whole choice on. I also wouldn’t be able to go home as often, and I wouldn’t have any family near me. It’s hard for me to turn down Washington DC. (I have, however, looked into trying to get an internship at the White House over a summer, regardless of where I go to school. In the Department of Health or something.) Especially with the election going on, I’ve really taken an interest into politics and the whole governmental system and learning about the issues in the country. I’ve even considered a minor in poli sci

I honestly am leaning towards U of M, but I guess I need someone else’s thoughts. My parents aren’t helping me, they’re leaving the whole decision completely up to me  Also sorry if this is all over the place!

I think that U of M is waaaay better. My friend was in the same situation 2 years ago and she is loving U of M. I mean you can move to DC whenever you want, but to get a great education I think is best to go with the school where you can get the best out of it. I mean you will find amazing things once you start living there. Plus i know when parents say not to worry you still do (thats how i am at least)

good luck!!

Michigan is clearly the overall better choice for you.

My friend told me her cousin went to um undergrad because she knew it would help her go to a top Med school. She is in gwu Med school now.
