At the beginning of my college search these 2 schools were my top choices so I am very fortunate to get into both, but I am torn between the two. I love the atmosphere and the academics at both schools. I'm probably going into pre-med next year, but I wouldn't be surprised if I switched in the next four years. Which should I choose?

Costs of attending both schools?

DD with same situation. Spoke to dad with DD graduating from Wash U this year. She loved Wash U BUT he said the alum network and job search possibilities are better for a UofM alum. She is trying to get into U Mich for grad school now. Wash U is a great school, and seems to be on an upward trajectory, but U Mich has more gravitas. Which did you like better when you visited?

For premed, both school are excellent, with the slight edge probably going to Washington University. Life sciences/pre-med is probably the only academic field/track where Washington University is on par with Michigan. In terms of alumni reach and national recognition, Michigan has the edge. Overall, both schools are excellent, but their atmospheres are very different. Since you really like both schools, I would recommend:

assuming you are 100% sure you will be applying to Medical school 4 years from now, you go for the cheaper option and save as much money as possible for medical school.

if you aren’t sure about Medical school, go to Michigan as I think it will probably provide you with more options.
