Gym Membership

Where do I sign up for a gym membership? How much does it cost for a year membership (2 semesters)?

Thanks!

You can sign up at the gym, I think. It's something like 135-145ish for the whole year.

The gyms here blow. It's not worth the membership.

you have to pay to use the gym? thats crazy, every college i've heard of offers free use of the gym to students. this is crazy!! how are the facilities anyway considering you have to pay for it?

Not that great and often too crowded. The membership is really cheap though compared to the price of gym memberships where I live.

it's $145 for the whole year. you can sign up at a gym or online, i believe. if you don't go that often, i would just pay as you go. it's $6 for students. I went with the membership and it's been a waste since I've been too busy and tired to go the gym. ok ok and lazy! I called and asked for a refund since I hadn't gone yet but they said no. I have to walk so much around campus anyway, I've actually lost 2 pounds since coming here.

I use my membership pretty often and I think it's worth it. The gym isn't that crowded if you go at the right time. Cornell is also building a new gym on West.

Actually, the gym is pretty much always crowded. And the gym on north campus for freshman (Helen Newman) is old and disgusting with horrible treadmills. You have to sign-up just to get cardio machines and you can forget ever getting a chance at the weights. Chances are, the "right time" to go is when you (and everyone else) has a class on central campus. For a freshman, going all the way to West Campus for a gym is not plausible, especially in winter. Overall, Cornell's gyms are pathetic.

Umm, since I'm there pretty often, I can tell you that it's not always crowded. If you have a large break between classes or get off before 4, Helen Newman will not be crowded. You can go in the morning before class if you're really dedicated. During prelims the gym is relatively uncrowded and it's not hard to get a machine during peak hours.

It's more of a problem if you want to use free weights than if you want to use a machine.

Appel has a gym too. My friends say they don't have problems getting a machine, but the problem is that they can't use it for more than 30 min if its crowded.

you sign up w a different name after yours if you want it for more than 30 min
