when you apply in fall, the grades you get in that fall semester arent used in determining your acceptance, right? since your application will already be submitted before those fall classes are over. is that how it works?

You update your app in january with your fall grades. I forgot the exact date. So yes, they are taken into consideration. Anyone know how long the required summer session is?

the gpas you guys listed, were they at the time of app, after update, or currently?

Still in shock I got in.

@binks- I am doing 3 of the prereqs this semester (calc, micro, and a business course). I spoke to someone in admissions at the beginning of the semester to find out if that would be held against me and she said no, as long as everything would be completed by the end of this semester.

No on has “current” GPA yet because the current semester isn’t over yet. So the GPA everyone is quoting is the GPA as of Fall 08 or Winter 09.

they don’t look at winter grades, right?

TAP doesnt matter for cal

Game_theory, they most certainly do look at Winter grades, it’s included in the UC app update in January.

But my school’s winter session is from January to early February. How would it be possible?

It looks like we’re going to have a really diverse group. I can’t wait to start taking classes. The only two which don’t look fun are Microeconomic/Macroeconomic Analysis for Business Decisions. Those two classes don’t look to fun (Calc/Econ/Stat prereq.). The other classes look great.

is economics in haas? den i guess even i got in

No – economics is in the school of L&S. Haas is completely separate from the economics major.

Does anyone know students currently attending Haas? I would be interested to get some opinions from current students or those who have already graduated on course load, intensity, etc. I have a feeling the workload is going to be insane.

yea i have friends that go to Berkeley, and they know people in Haas, I’ve been talking to them about it for the past couple of days. Lemme know if you have questions.

Biggest questions: What’s the curve like, if any? Competitive atmosphere?

this is true, haas has become harder on the grading system. top 5% get A’s, next 10% get A-
75% get B+ thru B- bottom 10% C or less. HOWEVER, some teachers do not follow this, and this ONLY applies to upper division CORE classes. Secondly, when Haas decides to change its grading system all other schools and employers take note. If Haas becomes more challenging, their expected gpa upon graduation wont be as high. As far as what Vmason said, the hardest part about Haas is getting in. People that are there love it.

@Soccerdude-
I’m kind of wondering the same thing as Game_theory. What is the curve like?
How is the atmosphere of Haas in general and what is the interaction among Haas students like? I’m still on the fence about whether or not I’m going to go, so I’m just trying to get a feel for the true nature of the program from a students perspective.

I’m planning on heading up there in a few weeks to check out the campus again, but I would like to get as much info as possible beforehand. Thanks :)

lol read my post above. I felt like I answered the curve question. As far as people, I mean anytime you are in a competitive environment you should learn to adapt, just like when we go out in the business world. I’m sure you will be fine as will all the applicants that got in.

Yeah, I think we pretty much posted at the same time. Your curve answer wasn’t up when I was writing my response. Thanks.

oh alright, yea tough choice for me too between Business Econ at UCLA, I live in socal and like everyone i know is going there because they didn’t get in to Haas. Family down here, but I don’t if I can pass up the opportunity, so you should really think about it also. We are transfers so you are committing for only 2 yrs, which I am sure will fly by.
