Hi, I am currently a sophomore and I'm trying to plan my schedule for next semester as well as for my majors. My dream is to double in Haas and one other major, but I'm not sure which one: Econ, Psych, or MCB. Many people say Econ is redundant with Haas. Psych doesn't seem like it would help professionally unless I went to grad school. MCB might just bring down my GPA and be counter-productive? Haas and MCB seems like the most attractive combination, but I'm not sure if I would really enjoy all those MCB upper-divs or if they would just be torture. Both econ and psych sound fun.

These are the various options for Spring '07 schedule

MCB: Chem 3B/3BL to declare
Pscyh: MCB 61 and Stat 21 to declare; Psych 160
Econ: UGBA 101B (Macro Econ)
Haas: UGBA 102A (Intro to Accounting)

I have finished all Haas pre-reqs and I have one more L&S breadth to go.

**Another issue is that I would like to study abroad in Fall 2007, so I really need to start taking upper-divs for my decided major(s) next semester. Actually, I think if I do MCB, there is no way I can study abroad, because I still need to take Physics 8A/8B.

I would appreciate any advice on this at all!! Especially from anyone who went through these majors!!! THANK YOU ALL.

UGBA 102A is limited to Juniors and Seniors only, so unless you are one that class is closed to you.

There are very limited amounts of seats avaliable in UGBA 101B and are only available if you have at least Sophomore Standing. Most of the seats in this class are reserved for current Haas students. Take ECON 101B instead as it also fulfills the Macro Economics requirement for both Business and Economics.

Well, good thing I have junior standing at Berkeley then. I'm still going to try to sign up for those two in Phase I of telebears. However, I still can't decide if I should do Pysch or MCB?! Basically it's between Psych 160 or Chem 3B. Chem 3B might be pretty difficult to handle with all those other courses. But if I want to be MCB, then I need to take it to declare

Dobby, are you a psych major? are you doubling? what do you plan on doing after you graduate?

Thanks for the tips on Keltner. I am aware he's a great professor. However, I also heard that Pedersen is not bad for Chem 3B next Spring. Still, even with a great professor, o chem is grueling.

UGBA 101B also requires Stat 21 as a preq to the course and since you said you didn't take it yet you can't take 101B unless you took a course comparable to Stat 21 at a CC before you entered Berkeley.

Stat 21 is a Haas requirement and cannot be AP'd out so I think you should take that because you need it for Psych also.

Yes, I'm definitely taking Stat 21 next semester. I just e-mailed the professor to see if I can take 101B while taking Stat 21 concurrently. Thanks.

Any advice about MCB and business, Psych and business, or Econ and business?
