Haas Prereqs at Community College?

I got admitted Spring 2006. I want to go to Haas.

Can I take the prereqs (eg Stats, Calculus, Computer Science) and the 9 course breadth requirements (eg Biological science, physical science, humanities) at a community college?

Assume the courses are transferable according to ASSIST

Someone said that Haas “makes you take everything over again,” so I am worried.

Also, do I only get credit or do the comm college courses count towards my Berkeley GPA?

What about classes I took at summer session during high school, do those count towards my GPA? Do I get credit?

thank you.

All breadth requirements must be satisfied at UC Berkeley.

Bah, why go to Haas for UG? You are better off getting an MBA anyway. Don't worry about business now. College is about having fun and just letting lose and exploring! ...oh, how people have forgotten that.

times has changed?

are you sure unlimited?

from the Haas site:

"At least 7 breadth courses must be completed prior to admission to the program, with remaining breadth courses completed before graduation. Courses must be UC or UC-transferable and carry at least 3 semester or 4 quarter units."

You only get credit, they do not count toward your GPA. I dont think this is a good plan, Id just take it at Cal.

""At least 7 breadth courses must be completed prior to admission to the program, with remaining breadth courses completed before graduation. Courses must be UC or UC-transferable and carry at least 3 semester or 4 quarter units."

I might be wrong. I went to assist.org and checked the jc's around my area to see if any of them offer cal breadth requirements. no articulation for any of them. maybe different for you.

friend of a friend of mine just got in through the jc route

supposedly only 10% of jc applicants get in to haas, though i have no proof

I'm not a JC applicant, just a spring admit, and I have nothing to do fall semester.

So I should just sit at home?

DO NOT JUST SIT AT HOME. of course its better to take your classes at Berkeley but you should max out your schedule at community college to satisfy as many courses as you can. because cc is so easy, you should register at two community colleges lol. And, yes, you can get into Haas. If you go to the haas website, even the sample application is from a Spring admit.

"Question: I am a continuing UC Berkeley student. Can I take prerequisite courses at a community college?
Answer: Once at UC Berkeley, students must take all prerequisites at UC Berkeley, with the exception of computer science. If non-UC Berkeley college level course work was completed before admission into UC Berkeley, it can be used to satisfy prerequisite or breadth requirements with the exception of Principles of Business (UGBA 10), which must be taken at UC Berkeley. If off-campus work was completed at a California community college, visit the Assist website, www.assist.org for courses at each school that fulfill the prerequisite or breadth requirements."

looks like I can do it, people have just been giving information conflicting with the website, where is that sample application by the way?

Why argue about it? Everything that you need to know about Haas can be found on the website.

http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/Undergrad/admissionsfaq.html

http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/Undergrad/applying.html

Sakky, I am a spring admit. I have been admitted to Berkeley but I am not yet "at UC Berkeley"

What happens to me? Can I take community college courses for prereq credit?

so you cant take summer school at a jc during the 4 years?
