Haas students

For those intended haas business majors, what are some extracurricular activities that you can get involved in besides joining business related clubs/frats? Do internships over the summer help on the application? I know it depends on what types of internships and weather you're in a leadership position or not. but it's hard for a freshman to get a leadership position in clubs/internships. so what other options are available out there?

well imma freshman myself so i wouldnt know much but from wat ive seen, its good just to be involved in stuff that ur interested in. becuase the people that i know who got into haas werent necessarily people who had lots of leadership positions but people who were involved in stuff they cared bout and did a lot of stuff.

internships do help because they give u experience and something to put on the resume. and....yea i ono thats all i got haha hope it helps

"but it's hard for a freshman to get a leadership position in clubs/internships."

No it's not. Quite a few of my freshmen friends held some sort of position in a club during their 2nd semester. There are a LOT of clubs out there, each with several positions.

Asian Business Association
Jewish Business Association
Latino Business Association
Future Business Leaders of America
The Berkeley Group
Real Estate Club
Cal Investment Club

Delta Sigma Pi, Alpha Kappa Psi, Beta Alpha Psi

There's a lot. <a href="http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/Undergrad/organizations.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/Undergrad/organizations.html</a></p>

Also...plenty of freshmen have internships. They may not be the most amazing and they may not pay, but they will look good on your resume. I know that Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Smith Barney all take freshmen (but I think the freshmen positions are all unpaid).
