Haggett or McMahon business community?

Anyone live in a theme community and find it worthwhile? D is doing Early Fall Start and wants to live in Haggett (the other choice is Terry) but possibly move for rest of year to McMahon's theme community. She is freshman direct to Foster but wants to meet a wide variety of students. During the preview session they made the theme community sound like a great idea. Any input would be appreciated :)

In all honesty I don’t think the theme community does a whole lot. Coming from personal experience, you’ll probably make a lot of friends during Early Fall Start and then if you change dorms, it’ll be hard to keep in touch if they stay at their dorm. Either way though, I currently live in McMahon and the amount of people you meet is dependent on how much effort you go out and try to meet new people. McMahon has a nice cluster system so you’ll definitely get to know your clustermates, but whether you go out and meet other people on your floor is up to you.

Like I said, I don’t think the “common theme” does much. I guess it’s nice to say OMG WE’RE BOTH IN THE ENGINEERING COMMUNITY but everyone can change tracks and every dorm has their own “theme community” so you’ll be meeting tons of people wherever you go. Your friend will definitely meet a lot of people in McMahon if she tries to  Hope this helps.

Thank you VideoPro. I think the positives they referred to were special events for the business community that a student would only have access to if they lived there. She didn’t know if it was really that big of a deal.

Think she will do it anyway as she loves the balcony and only sharing a bathroom with 7 other girls. She is hoping for Haggett for EFS so any friends she makes will be right next door :)
