Half Hispanic

hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to read this. i have a bit of a dilemma in regards to the college admissions process. i'm half hispanic/half asian and i want to mark hispanic down for the ethnicity secion, however, my last name is of asian descent....i was wondering if being half hispanic can even help me in the college admissions process.

if it helps i was also recognized for the national hispanic recognition program (the results aren't "official" yet but i fit all the requirements and i received the form to sign from my guidance counselor)

Put down Hispanic. There are two sections to the common app race question; first “Are You Hispanic” and “Do You Identify With Any of the Following Races” or something like that. This way, you can put down both your Hispanic and Chinese origins.

thanks for the advice. will being half hispanic still help me a lot? or not at all?

Yes, you will still be recognized as a URM. The amount of bump you will get will depend on factors, see this thread for some discussion:
