So I finally got a poster I'd love to hang in my dorm, but the walls are drywall and apparently tape doesn't like to work on that. Does anyone have an inexpensive suggestion for hanging posters on drywall?

I haven’t tried it yet but perhaps adhesive putty would work?

Maybe someone who’s done this can help more.

^Yeah, that’s probably your best bet. Command strips are good for hanging more solid stuff (like bulletin boards or hooks), but they would probably rip your poster.

^ things for saying that, because I thought about buying some of those from Wal-Mart but they looked too strong for posters. Surely there are people out there with drywall dorms that can help! :D

I would think poster putty would work.

Poster putty. Be careful though because some brands will ruin your posters (the oil in the putty might soak into the paper).

No colored putty, just white.

Use blue painters tape. it hold better than poster putty, but is meant to come off walls without wrecking anything.

Yeah blue tape always worked for me.

Painter’s tape or the blue putty works.

poster putty works the best

Command actually has [poster strips](http://www.command.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/NACommand/Command/Products/Product-Catalog/?PC_7_RJH9U523080QE0IIHEICN90GC1_nid=1CBSDM0QMGgsF0GFSQ26BSglZR5SDRF0QGbl) too; I have some of those than I plan on using.

personal experience with those is that they ruin posters ^

I brought poster putty last year and it fell off my walls constantly. Others in my dorm had the same problem. My posters stayed up for about a month, then started falling down weekly, then daily, then multiple times a day. The putty also grease-stained my posters. We’re not allowed to use tape, but I tried that anyway, and had the same problem with the posters falling down, and the tape also took off a little bit of paint in some areas, although not enough to be noticeable if you didn’t know where to look.

I bought some Command poster strips at the bookstore, which worked well, but one of my posters did get torn in the corner at the end of the year because the thing just wouldn’t come off the wall. Not sure what I’m doing this year, probably the poster strips again – considering I used about 20 strips in total, and only had issues with 1, they’re the best option of everything I tried.

Or you could just try putting it into a cheap frame and getting the 3M hooks too. Those seem to be working for me (so far), and I don’t have to worry about the grease. My older brother had that problem too.
