Hardenbergh Hall?

Anyone know anything about the Hardenbergh dorms? I know its one of the river dorms with AC (big plus) but any other info would be great. Room sizes, how good the location is, nightlife, how close to dining hall or anything else you know about it would be greatly appreciated.

Hardenbergh has a decent room size but no carpets. The lighting is pretty dim. It gets loud sometimes on party nights (Thursday - Saturday) though it’s not a freshmen dorm as of last year so at least it won’t get too bad. It’s pretty close to the dining hall. I would say it’s one of the best places if you’re into partying. It has an amazing view if you get the river side.

Thank you very much! I like to party but at the same time i know why im at rutgers lol

It does get loud. I lived there this past school year. But it is really nice though. It’s a great dorm. It’s near the bus stop, Student Activity center, and it’s near the library, if you care, hahaha :D

Hahaha, of course i care musha… I guess i lucked out as a transfer with Hardenbergh

I just found out that I got a single room at hardenbergh. I’m gonna be coming in as a transfer student and was wondering if I was gonna be placed near any other transfer students or is it just random?

I think it is random. Most of the time they place transfer students wherever a space opens up. Also, I roomed with a transfer student last Spring in Hardenbergh.

Oh ok…also, they gave me a single room and i was wondering if this is common in HB. I wouldve preferred a double but w/e ill make the most of it.

Yes, I was at Hardenbergh Hall for my Junior & Senior years. The singles all look out to the campus (sorry not the river view) but when I was there in 1969-71 yes, this is not a typo… that was FORTY YEARS AGO when I check out for the last time for graduation. At that time, it seemed you had to know the governor to get one of the two single rooms on each of the Hardenbergh Hall dorm floors, but I had one for my senior year. At that time, not only were women not allowed to attend Rutgers as undergrads but they weren’t allowed to visit men’s dorm rooms with the door completely closed overnight. This was a technical rule that everyone ignored, but "the times were a changin’ ". Having a “single” meant you could discretely have your girlfriend stay with you for days at a time. Since all the bathrooms were for men, you had to clear it before the girl could use it, so you had to have a section that was ******-bagless lest you be turned in to the residence counselor. ;-)

Hope you enjoyed living in one of these prized rooms, and enjoy your years at Rutgers. I am returning to see if anything has been updated in 40 years but sounds like still no carpeting in the rooms. I guess it’s easier to get the smell of beer off the bare floors.
