Harvard Chances

yoyoyoyoyoyoyo i live in toronto in canada.
I just turned 15 and I just started getting interested in going to a good college like Harvard. The list below is a list of my future marks that I hope to achieve.

SAT 2100
Sat 2's all over 750
9 AP's possibly all 5 % 4 more AP's in grade 12
Class rank #5-10

I'm just asking, is this good enough academically for a school like harvard if my EC's are like normal?

so these arent even your stats...they are what you are aiming for? that being said, theres no use chancing something that isnt real and no one ever knows if they are going to get in. that being said...wait three years and then come back.

I hope to become the President of the World, but will this likely happen? No.

Same goes for you getting into Harvard.

yay yay

Everyone above is so nutty. I will chance you with the stats you aim for. A 2100 SAT places you in the middle 50% of accepted students (2090/2380); however, the applicants in the lower end of the range (below 2200) are usually hooked in some way or have very impressive awards/Ex-cs. For example, recruited atheletes, URMs, First Generation applicants, applicants who are very accomplished in a certain academic field (science Olympiad winners etc.), etc. Its good that your ranked in the top 5 of your class, but to be competitive grade-wise, you want to be 1 or 2 in your class. With that SAT score, I think you would need more than "normal" Ex-cs in order to be competitive and you HAVE to have good recs/essays. About EX-cs, they want to see passion in a few that your involved in instead of just a list of a bunch of Ex-cs. For example, someone, unhooked, got into H with a 1950 SAT b/c he showed a lot of passion for the unicycle club he created (he wrote his essays on it, etc.) Theres a thread about him somewhere in the section. You have to STAND OUT among the thousands of applicants with the same and/or better SAT scores then yourself. So just given those stats, I doubt you can get in (5% chance for acceptance if you want a number)

who knows

crazy things happen

aim for the stars instead
aim for over 2500
aim for a 4.0
aim to be in the top 1-2 %of your class
aim for stellar ecs and awards
aim for the best recs and essays

if you aim for the top, you have a chance. harvard wants students who reach for the stars, not just the clouds or the bare minimum.

PJ did it as well

seriously though... Is this a joke. Haha I find this thread quite amusing

The OP is asking us to chance a hypothetical situation, there is no need to for any of you to be sarcastic.

To the OP: For Harvard, 2100 does seem a bit low, but with good subjectives (EC, awards, essays) there should be no HUGE problem. If those scores are actually achievable and realistic to you, then you should be in good shape.

All I have to say is.... WHAT IS THIS

erradicate this thread

yah I concur with waitn

I made my post very pessimistic. You can get in if you truly apply yourself, good luck. Don't aim for a 2100; aim for 2200+ and try to get IN the top 3 of your class.

Aim to cure at least three types of cancer and you should be fine.

Also aim to be Native American.

aim for a 2400, expect to get lower (that's what I did for the SAT.. when I aimed for a 2200, I made a 2120.. when I aimed for a 2400, i got a 2270.. bam)

^^It was the opposite for me on the ACT I aimed for a 32 and ended up with a 34 needless to say I was HAPPY :)

^^I had the same situation with the ACT (the SAT and ACT were really different for me, so I had to approach them 2 different ways); aimed for a 32 on the ACT and got a 35

if you start out your application with "yoyoyoyoyoyo" you have a 100% chance at acceptance.
