How should I prepare for the Harvard interview? Any tips?
Any internationals who got contacted for an interview? I still didnt get one in Saudi Arabia
I tried to look at prior years and it has been the last Thursday in March several times. That’s my guess
@studycollege Make sure you basically know everything you put on your common app. Also probably know your favorite book, and be able to talk about what you’re learning in school, and especially what your favorite class is.
Be able to go into detail about your extra curricular activities.
There is also a small chance they will ask you what other colleges you’re considering. Avoid talking about Yale. Make sure you don’t get the lingo mixed up.
Don’t say “residential colleges”… things like that.
I mean, I’ve had three interviews and Harvard’s was definitely the most nerve wracking for me, but that was a product of the Interviewer being kind of uptight, and embodying the worst of the Harvard stereotype.
After being admitted and meeting other Alumni, I’ve discovered that most of them are not like that…
I hope you get someone friendly!
It’s very helpful and thanks so much

@studycollege I’m glad I could help!
Harvard received a record 37,305 applications - an increase of 8.8%.
@Falcon1 WOW! how do u know?
Reported in the Crimson. Gibby started a thread with the link.
wats the acceptance rate for this yr? i didn’t see it…
but thats def a big jump! hopefully we get in wat did u guys pick as ur intended area of major?
my stats r low in comparison to the rest of the applicant pool (31 ACT) but i just applied for the sake of applying lol not expecting much. wat about u guys?
A nd thanks for the info …
Well, RD acceptances aren’t sent until the end of March, so that’s unknown.
My Harvard interview was over two hours long. Good luck fellow applicants
Had my Harvard interview and it went extremely well!
mine was like 35-40 mins lol is that bad? idk o well. she pretty much just asked normal questions and thats it.
Harvard Interview: Was a conversation, everything flowed naturally. Went well, lasted 70 mins, was sposed to last like 45 mins to an hour.
Brown Interview: Was my best, was a phone interview that lasted 30 mins, but she had to go somewhere, she told me my interview was the best of the day. She’s pretty high profile so I hope the interview helps a bit.
Vandy: Worst, she was asking me essay questions, was very structured, didn’t feel like a conversation, lasted about 30 mins. Don’t like this school applied blindly, so I dont care that much.
@chihuahua1,
My older son’s Harvard interview went nearly two hours. My younger son was not quite 40 minutes. Both were accepted. I wouldn’t read too much into the length of the interview.
Admit rate? That’s easy. Last year Harvard admitted 2048 kids. Let’s say they offer 2050 this year. Divided by 37,503 = 5.5% admit rate
easy peasy
Aren’t there a thousand already offered?
WOW! yea i agree!
if the interview is long or short, that doesn’t really say much…
With ivies esp harvard
Expected the unexpected lol really
