My interview was 45 minutes… Still got in. The length of your interview is not a factor, however if it was under 30 minutes… that’s not good, unless the interviewer was seriously in a rush.
yea mine was like between 30-45 mins i dont remember but she really just asked straightforward questions and thats it.
S just done with the interview which lasted about an hour. The interviewer asked for the SAT I, II scores, class rank, and the GPA. The interviewer said because it is in the DC area, these informations are required to put into their interview form.
@2562ivy: I think that’s a terrible (but longstanding) practice. Harvard certainly doesn’t need that data – who else is it for? I think it’s bogus and needlessly skews and inputs bias into the interviewers. That’s my opinion
@T26E4
Luckily, the data is to his advantage but I do agree on the bias part!
I had my interview this past Sunday with a professor… I’d say it went pretty good. It was about an hour, and the only “tough” question to answer was why harvard. Aside from that, he just asked me about my extracurriculars, what I’m interested in, etc. It was mostly about me and less about Harvard. I prepared a decent amount of questions, as well, which were pretty important in making sure my interview was smooth and less awkward.
My West coast student wasn’t asked for any of that. Very nice interview lasted just under an hour. The interviewer was interested in what other colleges the student was going for.
I am surprise that the West Coast students were not asked about the stats. I thought other big cities like CA, NY. would be asked too.
My d, also from CA, was not asked for scores or grades either. She was asked about what drives her and what she is passionate about so scores were not a part of the conversation at all. It lasted about 90 minutes and she felt interviewer was genuinely interested in getting to know ‘who’ she is.
@Ghfdw17
I am from Saudi but study in the US. I got an interview. I believe there are some alumni from Harvard in Saudi, but they just did not want to participate in the interview process.
Only I and someone else from my school are applying to Harvard. Should I be concerned if she was contacted for an interview and I wasn’t? I’ve been trying not to read into it, but the more I think about it, the more anxious I get.
Hey everyone! I applied for Regular Decision:) Can’t wait to see what happens, good luck to everyone!
Hey Everybody! I’m an international student from Africa applying RD. My SAT scores were beyond the pale- truly horrible ( like really really bad). My GPA is okay, my ECs are mediocre at best, but my country doesn’t allow for much extracurricular activities. I believe I may be one of the only people applying Ivy from here. Anyhoo, I don’t really expect to get admitted, I just applied as a “why the hell not” gesture. Can’t wait for my rejection
While I’m here, did any international applicant receive news about interviews? I’m curios about how they conduct them overseas. Through video conferencing maybe? Any ideas anyone?
@InfinityMan i was emailed by my Harvard interviewer and we meet 2 weeks later for an interview in cafe so it was quite casual but I live in London so i guess it’s much easier to have an interview in person here!

^ Whoops. Sorry. Didn’t mean to repost.
From what I understand they try to interview everyone. Maybe they just haven’t gotten to you yet, or maybe the local alumni interview committee assigned you a less organized interviewer than your friend was assigned. It’s probably not something to worry about. @KelMoo
Does anyone know the exact date of the decisions? I applied EA, and got deferred, so they said 31st March on the deferral letter, but they always end up releasing the results earlier. Does anyone have any idea of the exact date and time?
@ibbi1824 It would figure that they had an interviewer in London. I guess my country is just too hot for any alumnus to brave into :stuckouttongue: Did you take A-levels or are you an IB student?
