***Harvard Class of 2019 Applicants Discussion/Decisions***

@InfinityMan A levels all the way! everyone i know doing IB says it’s like awful

does anyone know if Harvard requires my SAT scores as well if i’ve already sent in my ACT scores?

no i don’t think they do.

Is it too late to still send in updates/extra materials on the applicant portal? Not sure where exactly where they are in the review process right now…

@otter101 No, it’s not. You can upload materials on your portal till March. I wouldn’t delay it any longer, though, they have TONS of applications to go through.

@InfinityMan I applied from Newcastle, England in the SCEA round and was contacted by an alumni within a week of submitting my application. We met up at his work place, he was a graduate from the Harvard law school. Safe to say, that was the most horrendous interview experience in my life to this date  I don’t think you’re going to be penalised for not being interviewed though

@shiziani lol I’m sure it wasn’t that bad. I hope you left a good impression of who you are. Let’s face it, if tey don’t accept you because of one lousy interview, it’s their loss  I live in Africa, and my country is not listed, so the interview thing was a far shot from the beginning. Oh well… good luck with everything!

@InfinityMan haha it was! But it’s fine, Harvard was an aspirational target anyways  I personally enjoyed all the other interviews  I’m still baffled that Africa isn’t listed. Thank you for the kind words of encouragement, I wish you the same!

  • " I’m still baffled that Africa isn’t listed." *
@shiziani You and me both  Did you get deferred the first time round?

@Jehkobe Yes

@InfinityMan yes, I thought I was rejected because I couldn’t read properly! I still have to go back and double check :stuckouttongueclosedeyes: haha I honestly didn’t expect to make it this far, but here we are! It’s been a truly amazing journey

@shiziani I will probably be rejected anyways, I honestly don’t have my hopes up whatsoever. But hey, when my name’s on the papers and I’m on tv a few years from now (a guy can dream), they’ll realize what a big mistake they committed lol
And while I’m on the thread: who has uploaded documents to their Applicant Portal so far? And what type of supplements did you guys submit?

@InfinityMan haha yes that’s the spirit! They can regret not having me when I become a Nobel Laurette :stuckouttonguewinkingeye: Better to dream big and aim high!
In response to your question, I am planning to upload a document with just some updates to my application and a short essay (still considering whether or not it would come off as too desperate).

When I finished my interview, my interviewer told me that they group potential interviewees into “A, B, and C” categories, with A being top priority and so on. This is what I got from it at least, did anyone else’s interviewer say something about this? Is this true?

@wilguen I can’t say anything about the grouping thing but my interviewer did mention that apparently an interview is weighted heavily on an application. According to him, if applicants don’t have a stellar report from their interview they’re rejected. I don’t know if that is actually true or not…I hope not!

Idk if this has been answered yet, but I submitted another Rec letter (signed by the teacher so they know I didn’t forge it) and an update letter on my activities since I was deferred

@shiziani‌ Weird, my interviewer told me exactly the opposite…

Makes me think that they just say whatever comes to mind

He’s a full of crap egotist. Why would he even SAY such a patently untrue thing? SMH

@t26e4 Yeah, that seems very rude of him. I would just become much more nervous and afraid at that point, making the interview much worse than what it should be.

Anyways, does anyone have any info on the “A, B, and C” ranking?
