Harvard, Prinecton, Stanford, any shot at all???

"HYPS have plenty (believe it or not) of bright, high-scoring URMs to choose from"

What are you trying to say? The believe it or not part sounds a bit...racist.

I definitely didn't mean to be racist lol. I didn't realize it would sound like that. :o

I was referring to the fact that whenever's there's a big fight on CC about AA, people start accusing "low-scoring" URMs of "stealing their spot."
e.g. "I know a black girl who got into Harvard with a 1200!"
"See! URMs steal our spots! I'm Asian with a 1550 and I didn't get in! blahblahblah..."

It gets really annoying, so I was pointing out the fact that URMs aren't "stealing" a spot; most of them worked as hard as anyone to get there. I was also referring to the fact that URMs can't rely on their race to get them in, which some (not really on CC) think they can.

OK gotcha ;)

He does have other safeties, he just wanted some ballpark chances of some reach schools.

HAHAHA desertman you're so funny.. you're dying.. haha you're drowning! hahahahahaha.. soo soo funny
made my day

No offense, but are you sure you don't been "Colombia" University. ;)

Wow, now I really regret not applying to any East Coast schools if people with 3.2s and crappy scores can get in...

This shows a major flaw in the admissions process.

i dont get how this is an aa debate. desert man says that asians' chances are hurt at ivy's, and matt intends to refute him but does the exact opposite -

"Asian students would fill nearly four out of every five places in the admitted class not taken by African-American and Hispanic students, with an acceptance rate rising from nearly 18 percent to more than 23 percent. Typically, many more Asian students apply to elite schools than other underrepresented minorities."

so obviously, taking away aa helps asians...matt, what was your point?

a girl at my school got accepted to harvard EA (she has a sibling at Princeton) with a pretty good GPA (slightly higher) and also higher SAT scores. But her ECs were definitely not up to par with yours.

Take heart.

ho ho ho

Tell ur friend to apply to all the schools listed and pray devoutly every night.

He has a chance to get in any of those school.
