Harvard - Publishing Research

Hello,

I want to know if publishing research in the Harvard Journal of Emerging Investigators has an impact, if any, on admissions (Harvard + other top universities).

Also, I have a friend who is a high school student whose publication was accepted to the Stanford Undergraduate Research Journal (SURJ), an undergraduate journal (idk how). How much weight might this play in college admissions? Thanks for your help!

Are you really wanting to know because you’ve not thoroughly pondered the question ? I would guess that the answer would be readily apparent to a researcher with an article in a journal called “Emerging Investigators”

Or are you fishing for compliments?

@Nonotech123 - Sure, it would have an impact. How big an impact is hard to say, but it has to be a plus. They are still looking for all the other things that go into an admissions decision, like great GPA, challenging course selection, high test scores, strong recommendations, and EC’s that involve more than getting published. But they are looking at your record, and this is a very positive achievement within that record, I would think.
