Harvard RD 2014 Thread

^ This happened to me when I was submitting for Yale SCEA back in October. Took me a while, threw me into a fit of nervous giggling. Thankfully that didn’t happen again.

I spelled ‘Assistance,’ ‘Assitance’ on my app. ■■■?

As well, my payments thing hasn’t turned green yet (but it says submitted 01/01/2010 next it). That’s not a problem…right?

^ Your payment’s fine.

:) lol Your typo wasn’t in a blatant place, was it?

I want to go here so bad!!!

@Rose5001 - Why?

I think that too many think that they have to go to Harvard because it “Harvard.” Which means nothing. Of course, this is still my second choice, possibly first.

I’ve really taken time to bond with other schools. At this point, I will truly be happy at those other schools.

On the other hand, I have gotten to know Harvard better than most of you; I know the insides of most of the freshmen dorms; I’ve been in every library in the Yard; and I know how bad the food at Annenberg can get. I love it…but I am slowly detaching myself from it. :)

Darn…I found another typo now. I typed the name of one of the awards wrong (the assistance one) and now I found another one in the additional info section…“It most be noted…” I just have a feeling that these typos are gonna get me rejected…

Also, I was gonna apply to UToronto as well, but the application fee made me change my mind.

I made my supplemental essay a “Why Harvard?” essay, but with a unique twist, and I took a semi-risk and explained that I wasn’t applying to Harvard for the name whatsoever.

Instead, as a person that needs to know EVERYTHING about a school, I’ve intensely researched the two academic disciplines I want to pursue there and have determined they’re the best for me.

Meh. I’m also submitting what I hope is an excellent writing supplement - hopefully that’ll be a plus.

I applied to Yale, Princeton, Stanford, MIT and Notre Dame through QB. Got into princeton

I really want to die now. I wanted to apply a couple of hours ago, but the common app kept crashing and crashing… and in the end I was late! My application got through, but too late!!! And my teachers haven’t send my recs yet either, although Ive been nagging for ages. I can’t believe I messed this up. Should I send Harvard an email?

wej, I actually did the same thing. I used the additional info space to write a short Why Harvard. Hopefully they’ll see my interest as genuine.

And GuiltyBystander, usually adcoms are nice about things like that. I’d email or call – they’re still human and you have nothing to lose by asking.

How awesome would it be to get into Harvard?! I know it’s a total (like beyond total) long-shot but it would be so cool to have people ask you where you are going to college and then be able to respond with “I’m going to Harvard.” Or at least (for all you “I would turn down Harvard” folks), to be able to say “I got into Harvard but decided to attend …”

Hey whats up everyone? I too (duh) am applying to Harvard. To share: I live in East Los Angeles, hoping to study Environmental Policy, and like many of you scared silly that I too will not get in.

I’ve been to campus, and completely loved it!!! It was so accepting of whc I was and my sexuality. I wrote my supplement essay about the prejudices and oppression I have faced because of my Mexican culture and ambient I live in, if anyone cares :)

Well yes anywho, any others in the area or state applying??

I am soooo freaking out. I wish you all tons of luck :D

dgiron, I’m from Carson, not too far from you.

Environmental Policy? Sort of like urban planning right? You have any strong opinions for or against the new Gold Line extension down there?

Man that’d be so awesome if a few Angelenos get in that don’t go to like, Harvard-Westlake or LACES!

I’m from the UK , and i applied to do physics and philosophy  I also applied to Yale Brown UChicago Duke and Northwestern. I’m pretty sure I wont get in to Harvard, infact I’m pretty sure i won’t get in to any. I’m still hoping very hard though !

^ That’s an awesome combination: physics/philosophy. If I could I would double major with philosophy, but alas, my parents would not pay for my tuition.

I agree that it is an awesome combo. I’m also glad to see some U Chicago applicants here :)

what the…already?!

ASTRONOMY and ENGLISH

Stupefy, QuestBridge decisions came out on December 2. I got deferred :P
