Harvard RD Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

@aposnova I believe it is 3-4 questions. But I do agree that a candidate with an 800 would be preferable to another with a 760, given their profiles are completely analogous in all other areas.

From my perspective, an 800 on Math II is easier than on other tests; however, the 780 on Chemistry (which is definitely harder to earn than a 760 Math II) could easily compensate.

The 760 is not weak anyway; I know very strong IB Math HL students who got 750s.

Has anyone from India been contacted for an interview yet?

Hi, has anyone from North Carolina been contacted for an interview. I submitted my application on January 1st, but have not gotten anything about interviews, is this because I have yet to submit my mid year report.

@katelynm Your being contacted for an interview has nothing to do w/your mid year report. Either there weren’t enough alumni in your area or you were assigned to one who has dropped the ball. Neither of which you can alter. However, that’s why the presence/absence of a report isn’t held against you.

Hey guys! Just my thoughts - I really don’t think subject test scores are going to make or break anyone’s application so long as a good SAT or ACT score is also provided. Also, Harvard probably receives thousands of near-perfect test scores, so I don’t think those scores alone are going to get you into the school. Harvard admissions is so extremely selective that I assume they are looking for students with unique talents/accomplishments/perspectives/backgrounds along with high (but not necessarily perfect) test scores and grades

has anyone had an interview for an applicant from Texas?

@woodlandsmom It’s no use looking for patterns. Applicants simply outnumber volunteers. At my nearby school (which has many applicants to the Ivy for which I interview), half the kids didn’t get a call. The one I did interview – I asked him to spread the word – that they simply outnumbered us and the interview slots were given randomly.

You’re asking about the state of TX. I’m telling you that there could be kids in your kid’s own HS that were interviewed and your son/daughter may not get an interview. Those are just the numbers.

Thanks. I have no experience with Ivy League schools so I had no idea if they take a certain number from each state or what the considerations were.

Any idea how many are accepted from each state? Patiently waiting in south bend…

Hey all, I’m applying for Philosophy, looking forward to freaking out for the next few weeks with you!!!
P.S. Did anyone from RI get an interview? does it mean something if i didn’t get one?

When will be the decisions available ?

@Hypocrit March 31 is ivy day!

After 5 months of agony, this is almost over.

@mjstewart1224 For better or worse?

I’m expecting a rejection, because it’s Harvard. The wait is the painful part.

I am expecting rejection as well. I don’t believe that I stand out enough, but I am praying that they disagree

Anyone from the UK?

Anyone else applying for the Folklore and Mythology; Theatre, Dance, and Media; or Celtic Languages and Literature areas of study?
