Harvard RD Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

Thanks for the wonderful announcement sir @TheWaffleMan149

@TheWaffleMan149 Did you receive one, or are you just responding to the reports from @nondescript1 ?

@aBitOfLuck I WISH!!!
Just confirming the rumors that we were discussing yesterday or the day before

I would be beyond lucky to get in at all

@TheWaffleMan149 lmao same. It would be a dream come true tho.

@TheWaffleMan149 @alexxxcee Would we not all be lucky? I eye that acceptance rate south of 6% with a glimmer of hope and a dollop of apprehension.

@aBitOfLuck @TheWaffleMan149 TRUE. I’m just over here thinking positive and dying of anxiety

At least for you guys the acceptance rate is 5-6%. Me as an international only have 2-3% chances lol

@hola1997 positive thoughts for you too :slight_smile:

@alexxxcee : thank you I am wishing for all of us!

@hola1997 of course!!! :slight_smile:

@nondescript1 Congrats on receiving a likely letter from the best university in the world (in my and millions of other’s opinions)!!! <:-P Feel free to not answer this question, but are you an URM?

From my understanding, Harvard likely letters are given by an initial phone call from the admissions office followed by a letter through snail mail - at least for the last few years… If it was sent through email, that would be an unprecedented move by Harvard.

Are likely letters mostly (if not all) given to athletes?

@SD2020 Most go to athletes, but some are sent to outstanding nonathletes (including, I believe, someone on this thread).

@aBitOfLuck: Glad to know! Do anyone know when the decision will be release? Is it still March 31?

@SD2020 Yes; March 31 is Ivy day.

@hola1997 The acceptance rate for RD candidates is about 3.4 %
So we’re basically vying for 1.7% of the spots. I think one way to console or compose yourself is by looking at those numbers in a different way, i.e, rejection rate. 98.3% of the international applicants get rejected.
Lets just Hope for the best but try not to get too excited or disconcerted because the undeniable subjectivity of the admissions process is by no means a gauge of our inherent worth :slight_smile:
If something happens to the admissions officers in their personal lives, they’ll be pissed while reviewing the apps and just downright reject highly qualified candidates left and right. So i guess we just gotta pray for the admissions officers’ domestic bliss and hope they’re in a good mood.

Didnt get the mysterious H likely yet, but I did get one from Columbia :-p

Don’t even care if the likely is from Harvard, because let’s be real, it’s /HARVARD; I just want one from ANY of the schools I’ve yet to hear from at this point.
