@kuriosmind A majority of international candidates who get into harvard receive an interview.
Let’s look on the bright side of things: we can print out and frame a letter from Harvard…even if it IS a rejection letter. (It will be my prized possession:
In 60 years
“Grandma, what is this?”
“Well, I applied to Harvard when I was a wee little senior. I lost my marbles over it. I made a College Confidential account and dedicated my username after my cat for Harvard. I spent too much money at Harvard purchasing books about topics I hoped to one day learn…and I got a rejection letter in return.”
“That’s sad.”
“Nah, bro, nah: it’s framed all pretty to remind me that the College Board and the application process sucks! WOOHOO!”
recedes into the abyss)
Did that comment even make sense? ^ Absolutely not.
(Don’t mind me, I’m just procrastinating…I SHOULD be studying for calculus…and doing homework…and cutting my speech…but I’m here.)

Don’t worry @schroscat you are not alone. I SHOULD be sleeping for class tomorrow but am procrastinating on CC Forum instead!
@hola1997 This website is really dangerous…
@schroscat : I know, I keep refreshing the page every 2 minutes just to see if there’s anything new…I’m off to sleep now, can’t really lurk up here longer, goodnight to all!
https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/application-process/what-we-look/interviews
it says:
If your country is not listed on this page, we do not have local interviewers available. The lack of an interview will not affect your candidacy.
@rahuilmars231 I know I did, but I’ve heard of Yale accepting international applicants without interviewing them, so it’s very possible for Harvard too!
@kuriosmind Harvard is slightly more stringent in the admissions process when compared with Yale. If you’re not offered an interview in a country that traditionally enshrines at least a few alumni, you’re basically out of the running. They don’t want you.
@kuriosmind have to agree with @rahuilmars231 on this one. At least that’s how it works in India
@rahuilmars231 did you get one yet?
@anotherdude no man
do you know anyone who’s got it yet? Many of my highly competitive friends havent got it yet too. Do they give it later in March (I mean, is it just a formality for the accepted/waitlisted students; cause idk anyone who has been rejected after an interview)
My kid - not an international student - just received notification about an interview last night. Does the timing mean anything? My guess is that the local alumni volunteers are just getting through the backlog to get to him now, but my hope is that the fact he’s getting contacted for an interview this late in the process means the request isn’t random but rather has been requested by the Admissions Office. Any thoughts?
@baltimoreguy : All interviews must be conducted by the end of February. Only when it’s in late so maybe mid-March would it make a difference.
Thanks @hola1997 - it didn’t seem like a special request, but it’s nice to know for sure.
@baltimoreguy : Interviews don’t matter that much, but it can only help your son slightly. It’s just a nice way to know more about the school, and perhaps to make a good impression on the school. But hey, an interview is an interview right?
Hello there people. So I’ve just spoken to an admissions representative from Harvard about the interviews and he said, “India is one of those countries where we have very limited alumni. So, only the candidates from whom we require additional information might be contacted. However, you don’t have to worry about not getting one because we admit plenty of students who are not offered interviews”
Fret not my friends. If you’re offered one,great! Then you’re one step ahead. If you aren’t, don’t lose hope yet.
@rahuilmars231 told you so! Which country are you from?
@kuriosmind India
Have you been offered one?
