Harvard RD Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

Is there a chance Harvard will release their decision earlier than March 31st?

The wait is truly horrible. Less than a month left though!

@SD2020 No chance, at all. Harvard is bound by the Ivy Agreement, which stipulates that the Ivy League schools are to release decisions on the same day, Ivy Day.

However, Ivy league schools are allowed to send “likely letters,” the closest to an official acceptance before Ivy Day, to a “selected” group of students. By “selected,” I mean students that individual schools, for whatever reason, consider top applicants.

When is Ivy Day this year? @asiankid88 @azwu331

March 31st @Desiree2 I think

@ammoopi Is that for all Ivies?

@Desiree2 as far as i know yes maybe jus the time differs

@Desiree2 Yup! March 31st. So basically April Fools day for those who are in asia

Financial aid is killing me right now. WHERE IS THE EMAIL!!!

Is this the e-mail you are talking about?
I have received it since 2/5/2016. I don’t think it has any correlation with admission. I wish!

“We’re writing to remind you of the steps you should take to complete your application for aid.
By this point, you should have already submitted the CSS Profile and will now have access to IDOC in order to upload your remaining materials. If you have not already submitted the CSS Profile, you should do so as soon as possible.
The next step is to gather together your financial aid materials and upload them via IDOC. IDOC is not smart enough to know every document that you may need to submit - please review the full list of required documents on our website.
Tips:
If you and/or your parents file an income tax document for 2015 in your country, you should submit this to IDOC (along with all pages and schedules). We are looking for the document that details income, not the Notice of Assessment that is often returned to you by the government.
Please translate your documents to English. This does not need to be done by an official translator. Most students will write the translation directly onto the document themselves.
If your parents do not file a tax document in your country, you should submit a Tax Non-Filer Statement and copies of whatever documentation they do have, such as a wage statement or a letter from their employers detailing annual income.
We recognize that different countries have different tax filing schedules and will accept and review your completed application whenever it arrives. Submitting your application by March 1 gives us the best chance of providing you with a financial aid decision at the time of our admissions mailing in April. You should submit your 2015 documents to IDOC whenever you can. If you are admitted and still have not been able to submit your documents by April, you should call our office to discuss next steps.
If the tax filing schedule in your country does not allow you to file until after June 30, you may wish to submit 2014 tax documents along with a note letting us know the earliest that you can file your 2015 documents.
Since the financial aid and admissions processes are separate, financial aid documents will not show up on your Admissions Portal and we are not able to track financial aid materials until after admissions decisions have been made. If you are admitted and we find we are missing something, we will reach out at that point. Given the volume of material we are receiving, we are not able to let you know the status of your application for aid before that time.
As always, feel free to be in touch by email or phone with any questions,
The Harvard College Griffin Financial Aid Office”

My S’s email is different, probably because he’s a domestic applicant (US citizen)

This is his email:

HARVARD COLLEGE Admissions & Financial Aid

Hello Xxxx,

We’re writing to remind you of the steps you should take to complete your application for aid. (If you have already completed the application, feel free to disregard this reminder).

You can find the full set of instructions on our website.

If you have not already done so, you should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1. The FAFSA is submitted online. You may be able to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to fill out much of the FAFSA, but if it is not available to you, you are free to estimate.

@kittymom1102 yes, but the last part is exactly the same

I got that email too

My son did not get the email. We applied for financial aid.

Very bizarre. Maybe Harvard could only put 38,000 people on its email list, so the other 2,000 people did not receive it? :3

@ReminiscingDad : Did your son submit the CSS profile, FAFSA and IDOC? Even if he doesn’t receive the email, your son should be able to follow the Financial Aid process as described on the website though

@hola1997 I didnt even apply for FA and I still received the email, so I don’t think that it has anything to do with the submission of those documents

@TheWaffleMan149 : I don’t know, maybe the system was glitchy and it didn’t send the email on time?

Or maybe Harvard has finally achieved its goal of receiving more applicants than it can email at one time

They could put that huge endowment into good use!
