Yes! Instead of sending one email to their 38,000 applicants, now they can send TWO emails to get the remaining 1,044 applicants!
@hola1997 yes, he submitted the CSS profile, the FAFSA (twice actually, the second time updated with the IRS retrieval tool), and all the IDOC documents. He has been following the IDOC page and everything is complete and up to date for all the universities he applied to.
I completed all of my stuff and got the email. The ones that didn’t get emails might have gotten missed or something. Although it’s not really an important email, so it doesn’t really matter.
We received a similar “reminder financial email” from Columbia university though, even though all documents required were already submitted. Nothing from Harvard.
@ReminiscingDad : If your son has submitted everything, then Harvard has probably received all the necessary documents! Don’t worry too much! And about Columbia, I think your son should call the Financial Aid Office just to ask them to recheck whether the documents are there. You have until 1 week left so take your time!
@hola1997 thanks, the email from Columbia was similar to the one you all got from Harvard, just a general reminder. We know that all the documents were received and nothing is pending. We checked IDOC and the portal of all the schools. It’s not important, I think some emails might have been lost or not sent by mistake. We also received general financial aid reminders in the form of postcard (Carnegie Mellon) or flyers with a letter (Cornell). No email was requesting a document in particular, none said that something was missing.
@ReminiscingDad : That’s good to hear. If I am not wrong, these institutions will give you time to submit missing documents (if there are any) without penalizing you.
A little early, but I was wondering if I could set up the RD result thread. It would be an honor on my behalf.
@HarvardDream101 : Sure, if you like to.
@ReminiscingDad There is nothing significant about getting the email or lack thereof. It is just impossible that so many people in this thread are in at Harvard. It’s just impossible.
Maybe your S’s documents were already processed
@kittymom1102 thank you, I agree. I just wanted to share this so that others who didn’t receive the email know that they were not the only ones. I think some emails got lost or didn’t get sent, and I agree they don’t have to do with the status of the financial aid application.
"Maybe your S’s documents were already processed " Wouldn’t that be NICE?! :)>-
@ReminiscingDad Hey, why not? The chances are so dismal for everyone that it could end up being anyone.
Good Luck!
@kittymom1102 Thank you! I remember you from the MITES thread. I wish you good luck to your son, he is so talented! My name is ReminiscingDad but I’m a mom too. I used my husband’s login (he never uses it).
What do you guys think might happen if the documents are submitted after the deadline? (like one or two days delay)
@rahuilmars231 I think it just means they’ll get to it when they can, so your aid package will be sent later. But I’m not 100% sure
Mijo is right, your FA will be processed later if you send in the documents late. They want the documents on deadline so if you were to be accepted, the FA package can be sent to you/announced to you a few days later or hell, even go with the acceptance package! Sounds exciting right?
Exciting? Lol with a rejection rate of 98.4% for international students, I couldn’t be less excited.
@rahuilmars231 listen, the best thing to do is log off of CC and have fun for the last stretch of high school. You will find that you will not be that disappointed if you are rejected because it is a reach for everyone. Think about it, being rejected from say a safety school would be much more terrifying and demoralizing
@rahuilmars231 : I know it’s frightening but you, I, and pretty everyone else have done everything they could. What’s the point of thinking about it now? Just accept a rejection and you won’t be too shocked if it does happen
