Hey guys! I have one quick question for you. Do you think I should send my regional admissions officer (I’m an international) a letter/e-mail informing them of internships, competitions and musical performances I did lately?
Is it too late or is there still a chance they would change their mind about me?
Thanks
@Jado17 If you’ve won a notable award or published a research paper, Of course by all means, do tell them. But if you didn’t, then don’t. They will be very busy at this time so it is probably not advisable to correspond with them.
@rahuilmars231 ok thanks! I’ll rethink about it.
@Jado17 It doesn’t hurt to try if you think it will help. It might be too late but you never know if they will think it’s significant enough of an update to consider.
My take is by all means, if you think it is important then submit else, don’t. Bear in mind that the Admission Committee is indeed extremely busy making decisions (maybe your profile has already been decided, maybe not). So sending the additional materials in at this time might or might not have any effects at all! Best of luck with your application! Only 25 days left to go!
So exciting to think that decisions are coming out at the end of this month… What is everyone most excited for if admitted?
Stress relief.
Being done with college apps forever
(Until law school. Lol.)
If I get accepted my biggest relief is definitely the financial aid. It will lessen the burden on my family
@hola1997 Did you apply to any other 100% full need schools?
@hola1997 - Same here. I’d be perfectly happy at the match school I’ve gotten into, but I really want to get into an Ivy because I’d get 100% of the tuition.
@XoXdreamerXoX : No, unfortunately (I applied to Dartmouth but they changed their Financial Aid policy for international students to need-aware). I toured Princeton, didn’t like it. Same with Yale, mainly with the recent protests and such. I felt that MIT was too tech-savy and not my type (also they will NOT take in the fact that I am studying at a US Highschool and will still assign me to an international AO so I think it will hurt), didn’t apply to Amherst either. So there ya go.
@glasshours : All we can dream eh?
The financial aid will be a massive relief. I did apply to a couple of 109% need schools, but they all have low acceptance rates. I love my backup schools, but the financial aid migh be an issue.
Same here, my backup and safety schools don’t offer a whole lot (like 20%) and I am not even qualified for loans or FAFSA to make it worse. Unfortunately, the schools that give the biggest aid are those top-tier and extremely selective schools
How do interviews work for domestic applicants? Still haven’t gotten an interview which kind of worries me…
@VanillaBean22 I think most accepted students get interviews, but there are some who don’t. It could be because you live in a big city with lots of applicants, or you live in a small town with no alumni interviewers. Stop worrying!
@VanillaBean22 : Since you are a domestic applicant, no interview means that there’s not enough or no local alumni in the area to interview you. At my school, two out of three applicants got interviewed by a local alumni and I didn’t. But then, later in the year (mid-february), I was interviewed but by a different local interviewer, not the same person who interviewed my friends so it all depends on the availability and how the alumni association in the area works.
Has anyone received a likely letter from Harvard yet?
