John Harvard, besides his generous gift, was otherwise an insignificant man according to the Official Harvard Insider Guide written by the Crimson Key Society. That was one amazing fun fact
@hola1997 :)) So you’re saying that he probably wouldn’t get into Harvard?
I would probably go to Georgetown if I can get in. Tbh, I’m considering that on about the same level as Harvard.
Georgetown is so nice, didn’t apply but I loved it
I love Georgetown but they don’t give FA to international students so yeah…I didn’t apply. But John Harvard probably wasn’t that remarkable besides his donation of books and probably some land (and some property and a bit of money). The lad even had his face burnt and lost forever in a fire!
I’m totally not sure yet; I already have some good choices, but if I get into Harvard… who knows?
I just want to know all the final decision so that I can start planning
For me, it’s probably going to come down to financial aid.
That is another great thing about Harvard! their Financial Aid Initiative!
Financial Aid indeed after the obvious number one fact “Because it’s Harvard!”
Honestly, call me crazy, but I don’t want to go to Harvard “just because it’s Harvard”. Although that is not a bad reason to choose to want to apply there and to attend, my reasoning is different. I want to go there so that I can gain the education and skills needed in so that I can make a large impact on the world. I want to make a difference in the world. As lame as that may sound, haha.
Wow, I really can’t believe people applied to Harvard just because it’s Harvard! I didn’t apply to MIT/Stanford/Duke/Harvard and Yale just because of their name and I surely won’t attend Stanford because it’s Stanford! I applied to all those colleges because they can give me the best education and because they’ll probably open many doors. I applied for the diversity in the student body, for the atmosphere, the campus. When I tell people that, even if I get into Harvard, I’ll still prob pick Stanford, their reaction baffles me. People can’t comprehend that I think there are places better than Harvard, and for me, those places are MIT and Stanford. Stanford has had the lowest acceptance rate in the last couple of years and imo, it’s better than Harvard in mostly everything, but people think Harvard’s better just because it’s Harvard…

That’s literally what people mean when they say they applied to a school “because it’s X!”
Yeah, that’s what I meant when I said that.
Hey it’s Steins; Gate person again
@reach2020 Does it say that the documents have been submitted and processed?
@Ayieee just that they’ve been received
@reach2020 Maybe you could try emailing the FA office about it? My idoc wasn’t able to process my documents the first time I submitted them and said it was because they weren’t the right documents. I emailed Harvard’s financial aid office about it because I was worried that the deadline had passed but they said late submissions are fine and that I should just re-upload the documents. They were processed a few days later.
Believe it or not since many colleges and universities are so similar in what they can offer, it is extremely hard for students to find the exact reason to why they want to attend certain XYZ school, especially when it comes to school like Harvard. It’s hard but not impossible. And to be able to find the exact characteristics of XYZ school, that other schools can’t offer shows the level of the dedication towards researching that school. Thus, it could explain why applicants choose to apply because “it’s Harvard” because it’s the easiest way to explain the reason for applying.
Financial aid is the number one reason for applying.nBecause when state schools are revoking scholarships and unable to offer financial aid to most students because of a nearly year long budget crisis, your reasons won’t be 100% out of love for the college.
Not that Harvard isn’t a lovely place in its own right.
Anyone know when are decisions released?
