I heard they don't give aid to anyone.

Thats a bit re-assuring guys. :) Maybe I should apply then. And yes, financial aid would be a problem, but I think my family (my mom and I) definately would fall in the financial aid category, the only question would be is if they grant it.

tennispro, how did your teacher/guidence counselor fill out that chart?

does anyone have any clue how much aid they usually grant if they would?

Lights_out I have no idea how much they give out in aid, but its worth a shot to sign up for it and see what they say or just to contact them about it before. Never hurts.

yeah, I know, it never hurts I just dont wanna get my hopes too high up, you know? Cuz then it would suck haha.

I hope it's okay if I use a class I took last year as an example of a rewarding course? =/

Demeter haha doesn't it say class this year though, w/e. They won't check to thourhgly so no worries, but you are sending a transcipt so they will be able to tell.

Okayokay. I swear to whatever deity you believe in that these are the absolute last questions. Seriously. (I get so paranoid about these things.)

I heard that it's easy to get the separate forms lost. Should I still send them separately? (I have a feeling this might be easier and more credible.) I'd attach one of those notification of receipt thingies, but I don't know what a postal card is or where to get one.

And...lastly. It doesn't really matter which book you pick, does it? As long as your answer's intelligent and well-formed?

Demeter is okay to ask questions, thats why CC was setup. First I had one of the secertarys fax in all the forms in for me, she likes me so she helped me out. I personally believe faxing is simple and easy, all you do is fax it to them and call them the next day telling them that you sent it. Second about the book I picked a general theme for all my answers and the book went along with that. Pick a book you truely liked and a good book, don't pick some dumb informal book. Thats about all i gotta say. Any other questions?

Yeah, haha. My guidance counselor hates me. Im afraid to ask her to fill out that chart; Im sure shes gonna give me a bad report. But if I have an excellent teacher one, do you think itll balance out? Oh and this is for everyone out there: for a writing sample, do you think its better to send a research paper, or a creative story type paper?

Oh yea, just curious, how did you manage to have a theme for all your answers? Thats mindblowing, mine are so unrelated

Neither, lights_out. The sheet recommends sending in a no-frills run of the mill English essay.

Yeah, I mean a research type paper I did for English ? Or a analyzing a theme kind of essay?

Lights_out I sent in an essay I wrote for history. It was where I argued from the point of view of a communist lol. It was an emotion filled paper. Oh and about how I had a theme, well I'm into tech stuff so the questions where all around that. The book was Prey which has tech aspects to it, classes include tech class, program I wanna take their is tech, etc.

Thanks tennispro, you've been a great help. I have my guidance appointment tomorrow, and I'll ask her if she can fax the stuff over. I'd definitely feel safer that way.

For the book I picked, instead of choosing a classic or something impressive, I just chose a New York Time bestseller. It's not anything like the Da Vinci Code. It was well-written and widely acclaimed (the reviews compared it to Umberto Eco's writing and that guy who wrote Hundred Years of Solitude).

For my expository writing sample, I sent in an in-class essay I did on the book Grendel. While I was reading through it, it sounded stupid and shallow. But that's the best I've got.

ok thanks guys. I mean both of have good grades/comments on them and theyre both fairly good so Im not too worried now. Just curious about what most ppl send, ive never applied for anything like this before..

Lights_out pick which ever one you feel best represents you, this is partially what they are baseing and judging you on so pick which ever one you feel is best.

As long as you have good grades you're in...they really aren't too selective. I did it last year as a commuter.

nice, sheldon0789 did you have fun? Can you give us some more feedback on your experiance with the program, I dont know many people who have been to the program thats why.

well tomorrow I'm goin to the Open House! Excited!
