Harvard Transfer (wannabes) Unite

If it's something that's damn good, perhaps not.

not damn gud- just an explanation for my dropped class- hmm..dunno- I'll send away- hope they don't think I'm too desperate! hehe!

Yeah, I don't know, I have a feeling that you're in already, bumpity. But go ahead.

ha! I wish-

thanks bnx. that makes the acceptance rate (based on 75 acceptances) only 6.8%. waiting until the end of the week is going to be horrible...

it's possible that harvard is in the process of updating its site and that the number of admitted students will be different...as brian said...it's such a minor reconfiguration of the sentence. if it is accurate and there were only 75 admitted ttransfers this year...then that would imply that they're all through with making decisionss...which would make me suspect the emails sooner than the end of the week...but i guess it takes time to package envelopes and enter decisions into the computer...so maybe 75 is accurate after all.

bumpity: I don't think sending that in can hurt you in any way; however, I agree that it may be superfluous -- you are one of the strongest candidates on this site.

edit: bnx: the updated website accords with what somebody posted earlier on here, that they're "aiming for 75 seats"

right, but....75 places is different from 75 admissions...unless of course harvard really does have a 100% yield

As janel noted, there were approx. 79 offers of admission for 75 spaces in the last cycle. In the preceding cycle, there were 55 offers of admission for 55 spaces, to the best of my knowledge; none were taken off the waitlist.

right. now that i think about it, i agree with you. it's most likely accurate information...after all...it is coming from a pretty reliable source. it's settlerd then. 75 out of 1100.

I'm curious -- from where did you derive 1100 applicants?

thanks byul for the advice-
hmmm...one of the strongest candidates? where u getting that from!
I'm a modest female with a 1410 from Africa!
Oh wells, harvard, the love of my life! saveth my soul from condemnation! accepter moi, I beg u!

Wow, I really suck at this, haha. I totally thought that bumpity was a guy...and I thought that bnx was girl. From now on, I'll just assume the opposite of my impressions.

lol janel!

hard to imagine myself being perceived as a guy with all my over-expressiveness, obsessive compulsiveness and unnecessary plethora of exclamation marks!!!

The number of undergraduate transfer students has climbed to 75 this year

~75 for 2004 as well... if we trust the sources.

byul: confetti tea had an interview with an admissions officer in late April who told her that close to 1100 applicants had applied.

oh that explains the increased number of interviewed applicants...

Yeah, but I think the same interviewer also told her that they "were aiming for 50 spots" -- which now seems to be a false estimate.

However, at that time, it was probably easier for the interviewer to know how many applied rather than how many spots were available; and in past years, the number of applicants has been just over 1,000.

is this just me(perhaps they hate my name or sth) but does harvard never send out their viewbook and u know I dunno, just general admissions info to applicants? I clearly remember requesting for them a number of times at different periods last year but never got anything- that's kinda snobbish- stanford, princeton, cornell and a bunch of other schools always sent a lot of stuff- many times sending the same stuff multiple times- again maybe my name was a turn off- ha!

martinibluex: Then it was even the 2003 cycle that had 55 transfers. That actually makes sense; I have a friend admitted in the 2003 cycle who said that Harvard was expanding the program. Time passes more quickly than one may not believe...

bnx: Ah, ok. Thanks.
