act- 31 but i am going to bring that up to hopefully a 34
didnt take sat- should i take it?
sat subject tests- taking them soon what is the lowest score i should get?

sports:
none :( cricket as a club sport, if that counts

pakastani (asian) female

DO YOU GUYS THINK I CAN GET INTO HARVARD IF I EALY DECISION? WHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO IMPROVE MY CHANCES?

Harvard does not have an Early Decision program...

aww are you serious? then what if i had those same stats for the regular deadline?

awards? Your SAT IIs should be all 750+, you need three of them for harvard.
And your ACT is low-ish. Unless you have very good essays and recs and have awards that you didn't mention, i don't think you will get in.

I dunno if being the "founder" of everything at your school sends a good message about the school. Harvard has no ED; you really need to do more research before applying to any school.
GPA/Rank is solid, but standardized testing score is weak; extracurricular is weak for Harvard standards.

Just make sure you have more realistic reaches and matches if you want to gamble. Good luck.

For any very selective school, there really isn't much you can do other than get the best grades you can, the best test scores you can, and for one or more other reasons be a really appealing and interesting candidate. Then you just apply and see what happens... which you'd have to do no matter how perfect an applicant you might be, because there's no sure bet as far as getting in to some schools. Harvard is one of those.

There are, however, a lot of amazing schools. That's the great news. Do great, pursue your deep interests deeply, apply to colleges widely (reach, match, safeties), and good luck! You sound like a wonderful student.

Since there's not a statistically significant difference between the academic credentials of most of H's applicant pool, it's very helpful to have accomplishments and awards at the state or national level as well as grades and test scores.

A 31 ACT is too low for Harvard. Even a 34 is low. Over half of the applicants with perfect SAT's (so, presumably, 36 ACT's as well) are rejected from Harvard. And, it stands to reason that these people who have spent so much time and effort getting those scores have also spent considerable effort on their grades and EC's.

If you manage to pull off a 34 you'll most likely get into the Ivy League or comparable, but only if you apply to more than just Harvard.

As for the "lowest score you can get," don't even think in those terms. If you want to get into an elite college, you need to do the best you can--I don't mean the "everyone's special in his own way" best," I mean work your ass off and get 800's. And if you try your best and don't get 800s, then you should have something pretty close.

Your scores + grades are okay, but your EC's are average. The only thing really appealing to me is your class presidency, and your volunteer work. You founded the English Honors Society and Science Honors Society?... Are those groups honestly needed? Habitat / Spanish Club are very very typical EC's as well for students.

Why would you found those two clubs? It kind of makes you look like a prestige-whore. Kind of like you founded a society to honor yourself....

then decided that you needed a second one.

thanks for all the input guys! well actually science national honor society and national english honor society are accredited honor societies and i didnt specifically start them for myself. our school did not have a chapter so i, with the help of my teacher sponsers started the club. but how do yall think i can say that on my college app w/o sounding like a "prestige whore"?

well i guess harvard is a dream haha but i really do appreciate all of the honest feedback! thanks!

ohh well i have been ranked in the top 7% for the national spanish exam and stuff like that
what other kinds of extracurriculars are yall considering? i have probably done it but forgot to write it on here!

ohh and i am also starting my own non profit organization this summer...

EX200855
When are you talking about apply to Harvard? Next year?

i am a rising senior right now so hopefully soon like september/december

OP, how much do you actually even know about Harvard. I'm 99% sure the only reason you're applying is because of the name. Don't want to sound mean, just being realistic but you don't have the scores or the ECs to get in. You should look at other top schools, and by look I mean actually study the schools and find things that you like about them.

Why do you want to go to Harvard?

EX200855

My son was accepted into Harvard Class of 2012 and his stats were not as high as many posters here said you MUST have to get in. He applied to major in Spanish, and also ranked in the top 5% on the national spanish exam.

You are doing well academically, as your are with extra curricular activity, remain confident!

My suggestion would be to take your SAT's once, if not twice. Continue with your extra curricular activities as well as community service activities. Apply and see what happens; you just never know for certain?

Do not be discouraged by other opinions.

Echoing better's post, why do you really want to go to harvard? A specific department, location, etc. Not to be mean, but I suspect the name...
