I was just wondering whether or not anybody has heard of their acceptance if they applied to Columbia GS regular decision, Fall 2015? I’m getting a bit nervous, but it’s still probably early.
I sent in all of my application materials by June 15th but my teacher didn’t send in his rec until the 25th so I am still waiting. My friend is still waiting to hear back too and his rec was sent in this weekend. When I talked with the school they said the earliest I would hear back is this week and the latest is the end of July. It’s killing me not knowing!
I had a similar situation to you. I was also waiting for a professor’s recommendation. To my relief he completed it sometime near the end of June. The wait is killing me, too!
Bump
@premed9000 When did you apply and have you heard back yet?
@lexyjm12 hey I turned my final documents in around the 14th or 15th. I am taking a summer course and will be giving them my updated transcript as well (I inquired with them about this) When I called last week they said it should take 2 or 4 weeks to receive an answer. Is anyone able to log into the Financial Aid?
@premed9000 I still haven’t been able to log into the Financial Aid. I’m really nervous, and I hope that’s not a bad sign. I suppose if others haven’t been able to log into it yet, then it doesn’t necessarily mean bad news.
@Brijul @premed9000 When you go to the financial aid page enter your student ID and use your birthday, mmddyyyy, for the password. I kept clicking first time user and wasn’t able to log in but was able to when I entered those in on the first page. I’m not sure that it means anything though.
@lexyjm12 I was beginning to lose hope. All this week and last week, I had been trying to enter the financial aid information exactly as you had described. I kept on getting bumped out of the system because my birthdate could not be recognized.
Here’s where it gets weird. Last night I went to bed feeling worried and disappointed. Well, I had the most wonderful dream that I was accepted into Columbia GS. I woke up feeling really excited and happy, and then reality hit that I hadn’t been accepted at all. It was only four o’clock in the morning when I woke up. I couldn’t get back to sleep. I was tossing and turning. I decided to go back online. I told myself that I wasn’t going to set myself up for heartbreak by looking at the financial aid site. I listened to myself for a while, but at around 4:45, I couldn’t help it. I was like an addicted site fiend. I logged in as I had always done. Much to my delight, I was allowed into the system! I tried again to make sure that I wasn’t still dreaming. Sure enough, I was accepted into the system. I believe there is hope!
My heart continues to pound from excitement. I feel less worried, and I do feel some comfort after being able to login to the site. From other College Confidential posts about Columbia GS I read that if you are accepted into the financial aid site, then your chances are excellent that you will be or have been accepted.
I suppose for now we will have to wait for either a FedEx package, a telephone call, and/or a letter. At a GS information gathering in the late spring I learned that we would hear back regardless of acceptance on or around July 20. Only 10 days away!
I hope to see all of us at Columbia! For now, we’re all future Lion hopefuls.
I took the GSAE last week - fingers crossed!!!
