anyone????

recieved them?
I have my w-2s if thats what you mean
so theoretically they could be done

Hmmm, since I'm not the IRS, no I haven't received my tax return. However, again since I'm not the IRS, I HAVE prepared and sent my return in....

do you mean refunds???

yeah, whatever papers you need to correct the FAFSA.

We completed our taxes and filed our amended FAFSA. We are doing the Profile tonight (amending it, that is....on paper).

Ultimate,

You don't receive something to do the FAFSA, you have to complete your own tax returns. Until YOU do that, you don't have any final figures to plug into it. If you have all your W-s's, 1099's (of all flavors, and other stuff you need, then buy a copy of TurboTax and get your taxes done. The longer you wait, the better chance you have of being shut out of aid.

there is free software Taxact, it is pretty good. Just plug in your numbers and it will do your tax for you, then print it out, correct your FAFSA and see if any college want you to send them any addtional papers like your tax and W-2 forms.

thumper1, can you tell me why you are submitting a corrected version of the Profile? I have also completed my federal taxes, and submitted those and the corrected FAFSA to all of the schools D applied to. So I think I'm done with the financial aid paperwork. None of the schools D applied to ask for a corrected Profile. Are you submitting it because you think you need to, you called and asked and the schools told you to submit a corrected version, or the school's website specifically asked for you to submit a corrected version?

We did our Profile in November based on estimates for the 2005 tax year. We were pretty close...but not exact. Now that I've completed my taxes, I asked the colleges what to do...they said...print out the Profile, make the corrections by hand (we did it in red ink) and mail it to us. SO that is what we did. Actually the Profile site first got me thinking...they say there that no corrections can be made once the form is submitted, and that corrections must be made by hand if required. So...I called the schools. So far all have said to mail the corrections. What is REALLY a pain...is that DD has applied to additional schools since we submitted the Profile in November....I have to submit and pay the CB to send the WRONG numbers...then I have to mail the corrections. A real waste of time and money if you ask me.

thumper1, I think we are living parallel lives. I also completed the Profile in November to submit to an ED school. Then paid to submit the incorrect numbers to all of the RD schools in January.

The only thing I haven't done is call the schools to tell them the Profile numbers are different from the FAFSA and 2005 tax return information. Sure, the Profile numbers are not exactly correct...but what do they expect when you can only enter the numbers once, and many students have to complete the form in November to meet ED deadlines? I guess I've been laying low on that since I want to be done, and don't want to hand correct the Profile. As you said, it really is silly for the colleges to do business with such an incompetent group as CSS Profile. I might bite the bullet and call the schools, but man, there's seven of them, and technically speaking, I met all of their deadlines and submittal requirements. It seems like a waste of time to manually update an online submittal when the schools already have the more recent and correct information...it's on the FAFSA!
