So has anyone attended the CAS info session? I'm going to visit Cornell soon and will be applying to CAS so I was just wondering if it is beneficial in any way since my family would have to make arrangements to go on a weekday for it. Will it talk about admissions as well or should I just go to the regular undergrad admissions session on a Saturday? I'm 6 hours away so I can't attend both and would obviously like to go to the best one. Thanks ahead of time.

Anyone, please? I only have a day left until I go! What kind of questions should I ask as well that I can’t get an answer from the website? Anything in particular I should be looking out for?

Hi, I went to both a CAS info session and a general tour of the campus yesterday. I hadn’t explored the website but before I went I wasn’t really expecting to like it. I absolutely loved the school though!!

The info session was pretty good. They talked a lot about the fact that CAS is “basically a liberal arts college in a research university” and a bit about the other colleges too. The tour was great; the campus is beautiful (not necessary to see I guess but that had a huge impact on me). The admissions information of the info session was pretty general, not too specific…iirc they said that the average accepted student last year had a…740 on CR and a 760 on Math (they don’t look at writing…also I could have mixed up the CR and Math scores :p). ED helps your chances a relatively good amount (legitimately though, not like Brown’s ED or something), and they said legacy only really helps in the ED round (although this is probably true for most schools).

I’m a languages person so during the tour that’s the stuff I asked about (my tour guide was a Spanish minor). I was really impressed with the answers and what the school has to offer (specifically language-wise) as a whole).

I took a few notes during the session but I think they’re still in my car. Feel free to PM me if you want more information about the overall info session. I highly recommend going though; it totally exceeded my expectations. I had to drive a few hours to pick up my brother from a camp that day anyway so it worked out well, but I’m glad I did either way. Hahah sorry if I come off as pushy; I just reeeeallllyyyy really liked it :)
