Has anyone gotten into UT Austin? Not auto-admit

I’m OOS and was accepted.
GPA: 4.87/5(excluding freshman year)
ACt: 31
was accepted into BHP

@SATX53 Rank, GPA, SAT/ACT, EC please?

@baulge thanks for sharing your stats and congrats on getting in. Just wondering why you stated your GPA excluding freshman year?

Crazy how people with lower ACT scores OOS are being accepted to BHP over in-states with higher ACT/SAT scores. I know a student with a similar GPA, lots of extracurriculars and a higher ACT that was denied BHP. Congrats to those that got accepted!

@MOMOF5TX‌ I was sick for a majority of my freshman year and got a very low GPA. I believe I got in though because I started 2 profitable businesses and am a successful national debater.

My daughter auditioned for the Theatre program (BFA). She is not an auto-admit. Shall I assume we won’t hear anything until end of Feb/beginning of March?

@baulge I hope you didn’t misunderstand me. I wasn’t questioning your GPA or why you got in. I was just wondering if you were home schooled or something and that’s why your GPA didn’t include freshman year. Congrats on getting in!

I just called admissions and they said that with the high number of applications, they’re planning on releasing admissions decisions in late February/early March. The woman I spoke to implied that the release of admissions decisions will not be rolling, rather they will aim to release most everything at about the same time.

My son was just accepted today and not an automatic admit. He logged into portal and discovered it. No email or anything

@brazos21 When did he apply? And what school he apply to?

November 7th…RTF

I suppose we could presume that its taking just over month for the admission process. We submitted late, Dec 1st. in-state but not auto-admit.

What school did he apply to ? We are waiting to hear from the school of Natural Sciences.

We just saw online that my son was accepted into the Comp Sci major in CNS. He is auto-admit, sent in his app Oct 1st.

I got accepted yesterday as an Economics major from out of state. 3.9 GPA, 2070 SATs. I applied on October 18th.

I am an auto-admit, but I was accepted yesterday into Cockrell for electrical engineering. I applied October 15. Just wanted to let you all know that UT recently sent out a rather large wave of acceptances from almost every school, so I recommend you all go check MyStatus!

Non auto but top 10%. Got into business.

@MOMOF5TX‌ re:Lower scores OOS accepted over in-state higher scores. The UT system, like other state flagship systems, wants the OOS tuition. We’re talking BIG $$ here. Many 10’s of millions.

Non-Auto but top 10%.OOS. Got admitted into Engineering today. 2190 SAT 33 ACT 3.95 GPA

@igloo256 are you in state or OOS?

@jimkingwood I get that, it just sucks for those in-state students that have higher scores, especially those that went to college prep HS with small class sizes.
