I’m in state. @MOMOF5TX

@MOMOF5TX I agree it sux. Totally. And the ironic thing is, many states are having this problem. They’re doing it to each other.

I’ve thought for 20 years that state schools trolling for bigger bucks from OOS and interntl (which is where the BIG bucks are) is immoral, unethical, and a scandal.

But the truth is, Republican state lege’s decreasing state school funding is a big part of the problem. The schools are “forced” to look OOS for bucks.

Hi, Jimkingwood: what are your son’s class rank, sat/act scores and what high scool?

Hi, Treehuggermom, congrt for your son to get into Comp. Sci. what are your son’s class rank, sat/act scores and what high school?

Just found out tonight that my daughter was accepted to Radio-Television-Film. She is OOS and applied in mid-November. Our high school does not rank, SAT - 2170 (M - 690, R - 750, W - 730), UWGPA - 3.95, National Merit - Commended, Lot’s of ECs with leadership positions in RTF areas.

Good luck to everyone. Wish you the best at this anxious time.

WilliamBill, here are his stats:

SAT 2290
rank 3/122, very competitive school
UW GPA: 3.9, weighted 4.29/4.
APs: Calc AB (5), Physics B (5), Comp Sci (5), APUSH (4), World Hist (4), Stats (4)
33 dual credit/college credits
strong essays and recommendations
okay EC’s (debate team, computer programming team leader, NHS, etc)

Strong comp sci background: three semesters of college programming as dual credit student in 7th and 8th grade.

Comp sci is his passion and I think it showed. We are crossing our fingers for honors programs. Good luck to everyone else waiting to hear!

Accepted to Cockrell Electrical Engineering today (or no later than today, if that makes sense). 36 ACT, rank 82/612 (yes, it’s less-than-stellar, but it was due to a school transfer which went horribly wrong). 9 APS between soph/junior years.

In particular, I’m in-state and not auto-admit.

Accepted to Cockrell Electrical Engineering on 12/12, non auto admit, in-state.

@charizard96 do you mind sharing your stats? SAT, ACT, GPa, type of school you attend, etc.
