Has Anyone Gotten Off the Waitlist Yet?

I am on the wait list and I am soooo anxious. It's my top choice!!!!!

Same here! This is one of the reaons I love/hate CC. You find out immediately if anyone anywhere in the country has received a decision and then you’re anxiously awaiting news. I’ve been checking my phone and e-mail compulsively when I should be relaxing and studying for AP tests!

They said the 7th in the original letter, then the 8th in a second letter. I haven’t heard anything yet. I wonder if they’ll mail out decisions today (or in the next few days, hopefully), or email. At least we’ll know when SOMEBODY’S heard back from CC.

Another anxious waitlisted student here! I really hope we find out soon.

logorrhea, when did you get the second letter? i never got mine.

I sent in a letter of interest and they sent a letter back acknowledging they received it. In it, they said that they’d reply with a decision as expediently as possible, but based on last year’s data, it wouldn’t be until May 8 or later.

hmmm, so i’m guessing theres little hope. only 6 people getting off :/

The number will be higher than six. A few people will forfeit their deposits when they get off the waitlist at schools they prefer.

mmmm, I don’t know. I just read in another thread that last year they didn’t take ANYONE off the waiting list. I don’t know how reliable that is… but I’ve given up hope. Pomona is my dream school, but there’s no way I’m getting off the waitlist. Guess I’m destined to be a bruin rather than a sagehen… :(

Does anyone else regret their choices of where they applied?

According to the Wall Street Journal, Pomona accepted 16 off the waitlist last year (as of May 21st).

The same article states that the college lost 4 students to other schools (Harvard, Princeton, Columbia) as those schools worked through their waitlists.

My daughter’s friend, who desperately wanted to go to Pomona, just got off the waitlist on Friday.

bubblesyablonsky

congrats to your daughters friend. i hope i’m next!!!

Someone just posted on the facebook group that they got in off the waitlist.

@waiting19: I’m [most likely] going to UCLA as well, once I’m rejected from the wait list.

Does anyone know how the wait list works from here on out? It is rolling as spot open, or do they send all acceptances and rejections on the same day? Also, do they call/email/mail decisions?

My son who was accepted off the waitlist last year received a phone call from the admissions office late one afternoon (I think it was May 9th) followed up by the official admissions packet a couple of days later with the required paperwork and financial aid info. Best of luck to those of you still waiting.

i’m just wondering…if you do not answer the phone when they call you, do they just keep calling or do they leave a voice message

anyone else heard of anything yet? so far only 2 people got off?

this is torture :-/

Here’s some info from Bruce Poch, commenting in the NYT last week on Pomona’s yield.

In an e-mail sent out to all incoming freshmen Bruce Poch confirmed that the Pomona Class of 2013 is full.

So now the only possible spots that could open would be from summer melt.

Did everyone else just receive that email about remaining on the waitlist? I dunno if I’m going to continue on — I’m already pretty settled into my second choice college and I don’t know how much longer I can wait.
