Because I have.
I am not being a troll.
My mother abducted me to a clinic on the way back from school and forced me to get a nose job.
I was fourteen.

Abducted? Forced? Is your mom crazy or something? o.O

She just likes being pretty.
She wanted me to get it before I went off to high school, so my new friends would never know. They still have no idea, because I never told anyone.
My nose hurt a lot.

I pity you.

I'm actually considering getting plastic surgery before I go off to college...been made fun of my whole life for something that might give me away so I'd rather not state what...I don't want to go through the same pain in college and would like to have surgery, but at the same time feel "embarassed" for lack of a better word...like am I supposed to come home from college and see my relatives at Christmas and friends without them noticing...I don't want to be ridiculed or made fun of for having this surgery either...and when I said friends, i mean the people i thought were my friends up until a week ago when they started making fun of me in front of a bunch of classmates thinking i couldnt hear them...still havent confronted them...i actually want to make friends in college knowing they wont make fun of me for this reason..

I just don't know wheter or not to have the surgery...my flaw--which isn't like some insignificant thing like my boobs are too small or my nose is too big...its more noticeable and not as common a flaw...any advice?

How would it give you away... I really doubt that you're the only person in the world with it. I can't give any advice if I don't know what it is. I've done a lot of research on aesthetics and plastic surgery, so my opinion might be valuable.

well, my ears stick out...but not just a little and not like Obama or anything...i mean they are bent straight out from my head so that even my hair doesn't hide them (im a girl btw). And even when I've looked at photos of people who got otoplasty/ear pinning, their ears never looked as bad as mine..i don't know how to describe them really...

i want to get the surgery so i never have to worry about people staring at them--i think about it all the time and try to flip my hair to cover them but it still doesnt work--i just want to be able to wear my hair up without feeling self conscious or having people snicker or stare (which happens all the time-whether it be strangers or friends). they honestly prevent me from living my life and going out because i am so self conscious

the only thing holding me back is the "shame" or "embarassment" or having the surgery--just imagining having to tell all of my aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, etc. when I come home from college seems just as bad as being made fun of for my ears the way they are now...ugh! i can't even bring myself to talk to my parents about the surgery, and don't really want to until i decide for sure it is what i want...

Ouch kabbibles!

CoffeeAddict - get the surgery. You should have had it when you were younger and avoided all the teasing. My husband's family has the gene for ears like that and a lot of them had the surgery, it is no big deal. If people make fun of you for having the surgery just ignore them, they are just jealous. My daughter had the surgery when she was 12 and even though it did not come out perfectly, it was a big improvement. She never regretted doing it, told her friends who were all supportive, and then pretty much no one ever mentioned it again. There's not much to talk about when your ears DON'T stick out.

lol most of my friends

Thanks Michart, I wish i had it done when I was younger, but I didn't even know there was such a thing back then...that's why it seems so much harder to do now that people actually know what I look like before the surgery...any other advice?

Otoplasty has been around for a long time. My mom had it done when she was a kid and she's now 52 (although the procedure was a lot different back then). It's a basic surgery, though... outpatient I'm pretty sure. They just make an incision on the back cartilage and then sew it back together.

Ears that stick out aren't more significant than a big nose. At least not in my opinion. Some people's noses are obnoxiously big and it's pretty hard not to stare.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear your story, starbucks08. For others, love yourself the way you are! I have small breasts, but I would rather have small ones than larger ones. I can run, hop, and do all sorts of things! :) I also have an "Asian" nose, but I can't help that one.

big boobs or smaller ones? which do you like better, guys????????
we should totally make that be our next thread hahaha or is that borederline inapprorpirate

what kind of question is that? big one's, obviously. Although boob size really isn't that significant.
